šŸ“ŒRock 'n Roll in Papua New Guinea - Gunpilot's Challenging Flights

Welcome to the 127th flight event across the GUNNER DOWNUNDER series. This flight will be conducted in the Papua New Guinea Highlands , and is again guaranteed to give you more of the unique and challenging flight experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilotā€™s flight events.

Hold onto that control column with both hands everyone. This weeks flying has us tackling the PNG highland jungle strips which most of us are now very comfortable flying in this inhospitable region.

However, be warned!!!

The forecast for our flight is for an extremely unstable air mass hitting the area of our flight just about the time we are scheduled to depart on our adventure.

This weather system will keep you on your toes throughout the flight as unpredicable wind gusts will be reguarly sweeping thru, along with heavy rain showers and dense clouds that sit just on the top of the ranges. A lapse in concentration could easily result in your aircraft being subject to random and severe wind turbulence that will have your aircraft upside down in a split second. No joking, it happened to me twice while flying this area to plan the flight.

And as if this is not enough to freak you out, some of the grass jungle strips will be so sodden with rain that you will find yourself slipā€™n & slidā€™n (as per the 50s Buddy Holly song) if you approach the strips with to much speed.

If there is one time you need to read all the flight details found n this post, then this is the time.
(Especially for you Willem )

This flight will not be for the faint hearted (and for those in VR, squeamsh stomachs, as the turbulence may well unsettle your equilibrium, not to mention your drink of choicešŸ˜µā€šŸ’«)

If you thought some of our previous flights in this location have been hairy, then this flight will give you a whole different level of difficulty to overcome if you donā€™t want to end up being just another casualty in the long line of aircraft wrecks in PNG

Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOTā€™s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Cessna Caravan as all landing and other challenges built into flight are
tailored for this aircraft specifically. If you arrive in another aircraft type you will be ignoredā€¦

Turn Damage mode off as you will most likely suffer at least hard
landings if not full on crashes

Bring plenty of Duc Tape for running repairs

Crash Helmets are optional, Prayers are advisable

Embrace ā€œSLEWā€ as it will be your friend by the end of the flight

Practicing to make Caravan landing approaches at IAS of between 40-50knts max will see you nailing difficult landings with ease and precision.

If you are new to these Gunner Downunder Challenging Flights, ensure you download the Caravan mod which can be found in the add-ons-and-downloads channel (mod is pinned to the top RHS of this channels screen) in Gunpilotā€™s Server. Download and extract into your Community folder and you will have the real life SUPPER 900 kit that is installed by Texas Turbine Coversions in the USA. Improved performance both in the air and on the ground.
