Oh yeah dlss3 isnt available in vr, i use dx12 and taa runs ok.
Did you set TOD to 325?? When I installed my RTX 4090, I noticed the performance was not great as well. When I checked the settings, I saw TOD set to 325 which was not the setting I had set. I usually keep it at 200 but something – SU11 Beta installed, etc. raised it up on reinstall of the graphics card. Was weird. Lowering it back to 200 made all the difference for me.
OK, I finaly found a solution. I was have to manualy update MSFS to latest BETA.
After the update, I can finaly see “NVIDIA DLSS Super resolution” with frame generation.
Another thing that I immediately noticed is that my GPU usage increased from 15% to around 50%-60% and now MSFS says that “Limited my MainThread” rather than GPU. Sad but true
Finaly I have around 45FPS with all maxed and around 80FPS all maxed with DLSS set to quality.
I must say that DLSS3 works very decent compared to DLSS2 and is a great solution with CPU bottlenecking.
Yeah, I got a big speedup with the 4090 in my old rig (it came before my new CPU/motherboard), and then upgrading my CPU from an Intel 10900K to a 13900K gained me another 40-50% speedup in areas where I’m CPU-limited. (IE: The 4090’s gonna give you super-fast FPS over Kansas no matter what your CPU, but around NYC…)
So, glad you got your performance increase! Consider your processor next for even more. But if you’re an AMD fan, the 3D cache versions of the 7000-series CPUs rumored for January are gonna be the way to go for MSFS.
If you’ve spent that much on a ROG 4090 and are not waiting on the Ryzen 7000 3D CPU’s, do yourself a favour and upgrade to a 5800x3D, the price has dropped a lot over the last few days. I have the Asus Tuf 4090 and am getting excellent FPS in 2D and the GPU is running at 98-99% with my 5800x3D. Check the framerate with DLSS3 on the upper left. This was with absolutely every setting maxed out, with terrain LOD at 400 and object LOD at 200.
