Brief description of the issue:

Everything worked yesterday flying out of CYYJ. Today, I tried multiple modules out of Ontario (outside my rolling cache area), and the sim crashed each time I clicked Fly. Note there was no error in Event Viewer, and the sim did not come up to ask if I wanted Normal or Safe mode. I tried a module out of CYYJ, and no problems. I deleted Rolling Cache, and I was able to launch from an airport in Ontario.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

As indicated, I enabled Rolling Cache after the update to SU13. Flew successfully around CYYJ. Tried flying from an airfield outside of that area, and CTD when I clicked FLY.

So, I turned rolling cache back on, but I turned off Online Functionality. Launching into CYYJ produced a loud stall horn sound then this. That’s my nose on the ground. The sim eventually registered a crash to the ground.

Launching again was normal.

With Rolling Cache ON, but Online Functionality OFF, the Manual Cache View button is grayed out. I assume that’s normal.
With Rolling Cache ON, and Online Functionality ON, but no flights taken, the Manual Cache View button takes me to France.

HOW TO DELETE THE ROLLING CACHE

  1. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  2. Go to Options > General.
  3. Go to Data.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and go to Delete Rolling Cache File. Click on Delete.
  5. Confirm your choice by selecting OK.

Looks like the sim is not picking up the maximum cache size. As you can see in the screenshot above it is zero. I had it set to 8G in the data settings. I changed it to 10G. Still shows zero.

EDIT: This is normal. You have to type a number in the Maximum Overall Cache Size field and click Create Cache for a ManualCache file to be created.

File is created and in the right place.

Aha! There is a path problem. If I click the three dots after the path I get a file manager view that doesn’t exist. It shows my full name, not the abbreviated version that is on disk.

So, I clicked Delete to delete the old rolling cache file. I created a rolling cache folder, then I created a new rolling cache file by selecting the location with the ellipsis in the path name.
