Rolling Cache questions, same hard drive as sim?

I have been thinking about setting up a rolling cache, I have all my hard drives pretty much in use except for the one for MSFS 2020. I would prefer it NOT be on my M.2 system drive.

I was wondering would having the rolling cache on the same drive as the sim be ok? That drive is 2TB WD Black performance gaming drive with tons of space.

AND

Should I even use a rolling cache? My internet is 120mbps down 12-20mbps up. I’m using Bing data.

I was trying to get a little better fps in areas like San Francisco with some ultra details.

thanks

You can use another drive. No problem.
But I have better performance on a ssd…
On hdd i think don’t make it to big.
I heard sone people want to use 500gb and more for the cache.
That doesn’t work well.
I think 20 GB is enough.

Personally I have 100gb dedicated on my SSD to the rolling cache. I’m finding much smoother, quicker loading than before I had set it up. Obviously, for areas I’ve never flown before, it’ll take a bit longer. However, I can load an area I fly regularly in, say south Florida, in about 15 seconds. This normally takes ~45 seconds for an entirely new area.

There is some good info there, thanks y’ all!!

That faster loading time over areas I regularly fly a lot is a HUGE plus!!
