Rtx 3080 to rtx 3080ti , worth it?

I can get a 3080ti for a good price and sell my 3080 no ti. Performance is ok right now but flying with the fbw a320 and looking left to right is not always that smooth as i like it… also the performance at airport could be better…

The question is if the 3080ti could handle this any better or if there is no perfomance gain to achive…

What do you guys mean ?

Thanks for your help

I’m running 32gb ram and a i9 9900k at 5,0ghz

Be aware the RTX 4xxx series are coming out later this year or early 2023.

If you can get a good price for your non Ti 3080 Inwould go for it.
The 3080 Ti has 12GB which might come in handy in the future compared tonthe 10GB on the 3080 (given you have the first geeration of 3080 with 10GB of course).
But make sure to undervolt the 3080 Ti

Did it and it is absolutley worth it! head movements are now very smooth and I can even raise the renderscale , now running 100 ingame , 125 oxr , 88 fsr. Very happy right now :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have a i7 7700k and a gtx 1080ti.
You think it’s worth to Upgrade to a 3080ti?

Or should I wait until end of year and build a new System with a i7 12700k and probably rtx 4080.

I have a quest 2 and im not so happy with the fps…

It will be worth it I think , the 3080ti is a beast. I have very good performance now.

I think that partly depends on when the RTX 4xxx actually turn up and at what price. Which unfortunately is a complete unknown at present.

I have 3090 and 3080 and there’s almost nothing between them for performance in MSFS and DCS etc.

I’m amazed they managed to squeeze a ti version in there. However there may be benefits for video editing etc with the additional cores

The 3080ti is not really a 3080, it is a nerfed 3090.

maybe they needed to move more of the 3090 chipsets so did a budget version ?

IMO, with an i7 7700K, if you install a 3080 TI you will have a good bottleneck and will not take advantage of it.

I had the same configuration as you and it worked great, I had no intention of buying a new PC, but my wife’s PC died and I gave her mine. If it hadn’t been for that, I would still be using that configuration.

Not really. The additional 2GB of VRAM will not benefit MSFS2020 as it is today. The slight increase in CUDA cores will probably not help as the 3080 is already enough GPU for this sim.

Hands down just get it. The only reason I say that is because there’s still lots of time to get some crypto mining in with a 3080. Since December I’ve mined a lil over $1200 just from having my 3080 on while I’m not gaming, so night time, work, when I leave home etc. And dont let anyone say its going to ruin the GPU, they have warranty for a reason. I know people with 30+ RTX 3080s that have been going months straight without being turned off or maintained inside grow tents that sit at 70C (degrees) mining non stop. With recent price drops and supply increase its a no brainer. I’ve since bought another 3080 and 3070 I have 3 cards mining making over $10/day.

MSI has a 3090TI in stock at MSRP. I’m thinking of upgrading my 2080ti founders.

I know I’m in serious danger of derailing the thread here but how are your electricity bills? Are you making $10 dollars clear profit? Here in the UK having a 3080 running maxed out all day long is about to start costing serious money.

Back to the original topic. There’s no way its worthwhile upgrading from a 3080 to a 3080ti if its purely for FS. The 3080, 3080ti and 3090 have pretty much the exact same performance when it comes to games/sims.
