So, for all of you that are experienced hardware enthusiasts or future RTX5090 buyers, what would you recommend? Should I go Founders Edition or I’d be better taking an AIB model like the ASUS Astral that actually looks pretty cool.
I know the FE has liquid metal in it and that’s a bit scary, but the slim design could in fact be quite clever. Who knows, but maybe going old school with a big fat chunk of metal is still the way to go. I have never complained about it.
What is your experience regarding cooling and performance on Founders Edition cards? What do you guys think can we expect looking at their previous generations?
All thoughts are welcomed. Thank you
I would always prefer a non-FE version. They have better cooling and may also be overclocked already by factory.
Despite nvidia’s claims regarding “magic new cooling tech”, I’d be a bit concerned about the FE getting really hot. Will need to wait for objective tests. On the other hand, IF you can get one then the FE would probably be a fair bit cheaper than many of the AIBs.
I’m probably gonna go for an AIB personally.
I had the 4070 FE and now the 4080 FE, they both run perfectly fine and cold while staying really quiet.
They also looks absolutely gorgeous.
Can’t tell about x090 though they are other sort of beasts.
But from previews I saw, heat doesn’t seem to be a problem at all for the 5090 FE.
If overclocking is your thing, go AIBs. If not, there are no reason to avoid FE cards.
Do not expect a big overclocking… FE is 575W and the max the connector can deliver is 600W!
The overclocking will be ridiculous
