Hello guys, well I’m currently playing the sim in a 4K monitor but I’ve noticed after every Nvidia update i keep losing performance. Would you guys recommend downgrading to a 1440p monitor for smoother gameplay? Is there any visual difference between 4K and 1440p?
I can’t wait to try my 3090 and the new setup in general in 4K. For now I don’t have a 4K monitor so I am getting a very satisfying performance with a regular HD resolution and Ultra settings…
I think it depends on the sum of many things in your system considering that the updates did not present any bugs that could affect performance as it is the case lately.
Asobo are optimizing and in their Q&A they promised impressive performance with details when the optimization will be part of a future sim update.
Edit: @Camargo24 I just noticed we have the same Asus machine, but I only have 32GB in my Asus setup.
70 shouldn’t be an issue. Definitely wouldn’t go lower than that. I would avoid downgrading your monitor though. Especially if you don’t have one sitting around.
Yea that would be ok then I wouldn’t see issues there. You can tweak some other settings too like building resolution and a few others down to high or even medium. Traffic settings can go down if you don’t mind seeing less traffic at airports and on the roads and you are CPU limited. May want to wait until the next update drops next week too and see how things shake out and see how performance is. Fortunately for you that you can just switch back to the 4K monitor and do some tweaks to your settings and see what works best for you.
Do you know if next weeks update is increasing performance?
All I’m looking for is for a smooth gameplay. I don’t mind having 20-30 fps. As long as it’s smooth. Everytime I bank to the left/right , there’s this micro stutter that always happens. It’s annoying. Even above FL300
I have no idea if it will. Almost every update has effected performance so far though. Whether it was positively or negatively effected so I imagine that there will be some changes to performance after the update. I’ve gotten rid of most of my stutters by dialing back the traffic settings to 25%. I have clouds, trees, on ultra and LOD set to 200. Everything else is set to medium or high. A lot of the settings like buiding resolution appear to have no effect anything above medium.
Your issue sounds CPU based though so you may want to look into the settings that effect it first. There’s a few good threads here in the forums that break down each setting and what it effects most (CPU or GPU) Ill try to find and post.
Also I have 2070S on a 4K monitor with render scaling set to 70%
No micro stutters here but when I get close to an airport, I have a few small pauses and lags (loading 3D or other airport assets). They are not that many but they were a huge show stoppers in my previous setup. Yet I think this is a glitch from the latest updates.
Other than this, I am very satisfied with the HD and Ultra performance. Smooth experience.
However, the setup is a heater The Armoury Crate app is buggy, it does not read the CPU temp or control the fans of my setup. Asus Support told me they are updating it for early June.
In my previous system (I built myself back then) I used to have the AI Suite and it used to adapt the fan speeds according to heavy load on the system… For the Asus Rog system AI Suite does not work since the Mobo is not supported (the G35CZ)
Also here’s a topic I started a while back that has a link to a great video showing the differences between all the graphic settings and a good discussion about what settings can be dialed back.
the game has temporal upscaling as long as TAA is enabled - similar to what DLSS does image quality wise
also remember a 10% drop in render scaling is a 20% drop in overall rendered pixels
Thank you very much! Will definitely have these open while I’m messing around with the settings when I get home. Maybe I can recover the smoothness I used to have before switching monitors. Do you have v-sync turned on in game or in Nvidia control panel?
the higher the building sliders the further it is drawn specially in areas with no photogrammetry.I have mine set to ultra. Some areas I have to lower it to high because this can have a 10fps hit.
Clouds,Terrain LOD and rendering scale has the largest impact on performance in this sim on my system.Terrain LOD to 200 maxes out my 8gb of vram.Quite surprise your 2070s is holding up on 4k.
Do you get a noticeable fps drop flying into clouds and what about photogrammetry places with airliners?
