Welcome to the 166th flight event with Gunpilot and a whole bunch of other like-minded sim pilots. If you have just discovered these flight events for the first time, welcome aboard and you will be made to feel very much at home with the rest of the pilots on the flight.
The only Request we make is that you arrive on the tarmac in the aircraft designated for the flight, and you join in the banter on the supplied COMMS RADIO which can be found in Gunpilot’s Discord server (click on this link to take you directly to Gunpilot’s server GUNPILOT’s Server ).
This week sees us back in West Papua (Indonesia), again tackling the harsh terrain and extremely challenging mountainside airstrips that West Papua and PNG are notorious for.
This is a BACK2BLACK flight event where we will be flying the KING AIR with Damage turned on, ensuring that you maintain full concentration, especially with approaches, take-offs and ground handling. The aim is to make it through the whole flight without crashing or overstressing your aircraft. You will quickly realise that with this type of event, pilots get very competitive very quickly, which just adds to the overall excitement and enjoyment of the flight.
All up there will be 28 landing challenges around the flight plan, and you will need to ensure that you do not become “Geographically Embarrassed” as 8 of these landings will be at airstrips all having the same airstrip name, being KARUBAGO.
Weather is forecast (and my forecasts are never wrong 
) to include some intermittent rain showers and some low lying mist. The one saving grace is that there will be no wind to be concerned about. Be careful on pulling up after landing as the grass/dirt rwys will be very slick!
To assist you on your final approaches, an add-on has been posted under the weather file in #gunpilots-events channel that, once loaded into your Community folder, will remove the erroneous placement by Asobo of tall trees on final approach to rwy thresholds…this will greatly enhance your ability to approach and land on all rwys, especially short rwys (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there) .
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.
