Rudder sensitivity

Is there a sensitivity setting for the rudder? I find it way too sensitive. A small nudge and whole plane swings to left or right.

I have the same problem, I have flight yoke without pedals, just yoke switches mapped as rudder pedals. I also have Spad.next, but I didn’t find the way how to solve it. Almost after each landing I have terrible ground roll. I found an option in Asisstance menu called autorudder, but this is only for takeoffs.

Assuming you are using some controller, you can adjust sensitivity of the axis in the controls screen.

Same problem here. I’m usng the X55 Saitek Joystick and especially when you touchdown with some crosswind the problem is very clear.

Also if you are a little brave :wink: you can mod a couple of settings in the flight_model.cfg of the particular plane you like to fly- This is my cfg for the DA62: Rudder effectiveness and elevator effectiveness in particular I scaled back a touch and it does tame the jerkyness.
[FLIGHT_TUNING]
cruise_lift_scalar = 1
parasite_drag_scalar =1
induced_drag_scalar = 1.5
flap_induced_drag_scalar = 2
elevator_effectiveness = 0.8
elevator_maxangle_scalar = 1
aileron_effectiveness = 1
rudder_effectiveness = 0.8
rudder_maxangle_scalar = 0.5
pitch_stability = 0.33
roll_stability = 0.33
yaw_stability = 0.33
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 0.8
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1
hi_alpha_on_roll = 0
hi_alpha_on_yaw = 0
p_factor_on_yaw = 0
torque_on_roll = 0
gyro_precession_on_roll = 0
gyro_precession_on_yaw = 0
engine_wash_on_roll = 0 ; Torque effect

NB you can take a copy of your flight_model.cfg and save it somewhere else in case you decide to revert back and forget what you changed!

Not for the rudder you can’t. Unless I missed it.

That’s very helpful thank you!

Again assuming you have a controller and an axis assigned to the rudder, sensitivity can be adjusted just like any other axis. Make sure you have selected the right controller and the right axis.

The rudder control seems much better since the last patch - not as sensitive…one of the 1st things I noticed.

I’m finding that the Z axis on my joystick (logitech 3d pro) is pretty controllable for take off and landing. Still trying to find settings for ch3 pro pedals that don’t send me careening all over the runway. I love them for taxiing and differential braking but so far prefer the joystick z axis for operations at speed.

If you’re flying the Xcub, I believe there must be a bug with weight distribution on that plane that causes it to yaw all over the place.

Actually all controls improved. Elevator was the same and now is better, no longer jumping off the runway or the A320 lifting off at 70 knots
