Runway Changes Not Recognized by BATC

I was excited about getting BATC after reading so many positive posts. However, the first 2 times I launched it, after launcing FS2020, I got a message that it ciouldn’t connect to the sim. I don’t know why. Simbrief and LNM have no problem connecting.
The 3rd time, it connected.
Then, after creating a simbrief dispatch flightplan, when I hit the “Fly” button in BATC, I got a message that the destination runway does not exist in the sim and it quit on me. This happened twice, at 2 dfifferent airports.
The problem , as I understand it, is that BATC is pulling the data from Simbrief (free version) and KTUS (where I live) RWY 11 recently (last couple of years?) changed its designation to RWY 12. FS2020 shows it as RWY 12, but BATC was getting RWY 11 from Simbrief and the free version of Simbrief has older data.
Everything I read said that Simbrief is free (which it is if you just use it to import plans into the World Map) but apparently I can’t use BATC (which I already paid for) unless I pay a monthly subscription to get the current Navigraph data so that these runway changes are recognized.
Is there a way to force BATC to use the old data?

Today I tried 3 times (with and withouut Run as Administartor) and when I hit “Fly” it said it couldn’t connect to the sim. So I am now dealing with both issues.

Were the airports that had unrecognized runways default airports or third party airports? BATC takes this information from the scenery and not from simbrief/navigraph. If they were third party airports the scenery designer will be able to help.

Re: BATC not connecting to the sim.
From the BATC troubleshooting faq:

Fristly ensure the simulator is running at least as far as the main menu, preferably with you on the ground at your departure airport.

If the issue persists try the following steps, retrying to use BATC after each step:

  1. Restart MSFS and BeyondATC - check task manager also and make sure any simconnect_ws.exe process is killed if still running after BATC is closed.

  2. Ensure your antivirus and firewall are not blocking BATC from connecting to the internet.

  3. Run BeyondATC as admin

  4. Restart your PC

  5. Uninstall BeyondATC, redownload from the website and install as admin

  6. Whilst BATC is still open, return to Main Menu in MSFS. And retry BATC. BATC will display the message „The connection to the simulator has been lost."
Spawn into airport and when ready BATC should connect.

  7. Try using a VPN (users from Turkey and Hong Kong may have issues using the software without).

Much thanks. I will try all that.

OK. I am succesfully connecting to BATC. That seems to be solved.
I do have to (for now) avoid airports (addons) that BATC doesn’t agree with the runway number …

However, after getting it working and getting as far as cruise altitude, it seemed to stop communicating with me. It showed “Squawk xxx” and it never gave me an ATC communication after that. I have Auto tune and Auto respond enabled so I don’t know why it no longer does anything. This happened twice. Is there anything I need to do when those auto functions are checked?

You need to initiate contact with them when requesting any non-standard, taxi, takeoff or landing instructions. Auto-respond will read back whatever they say, as well as handle radio handoffs on its own, but you will need to initiate contact yourself.

Auto-tune will change your radio frequency after reading it back much like a pilot monitoring will do, and then auto-respond will announce your callsign and flight level to your new controller.

BATC reads the data file from your airport, so if the developer doesn’t know how to do that properly you will get conflicts.
The other day I set up a flight from KSEA to PAJN, and immediately upon loading up BATC it said “there are duplicate runways found at PAJN, unable to read flight data, BATC will restart”.

Again, I had no problem until in cruise, so it wasn’t an airport or procedure conflict. It was asking my to sqwauk. I tried entering the squawk code it manually in the FMS but I’m not sure I did it correctly… but I shouldn’t have to if Auto Tune is selected, correct?

I also don’t quite understand why BATC will only work with Simbrief. After importing a SB flightplan, it shows in the World Map. Why does BATC not work then if I just create a flightplan in the World Map, or LNM for that matter? It would be great if an ATC addon could do that- that would completely replace the terrible default ATC.
But, ASIDE FROM THAT… I want to know why BATC is giving me problems.

  1. Afaik, BATC doesn’t auto-tune your transponder, only the radios.
  2. In order to differentiate between you and other users, BATC needs some kind of ID to log in with, and Simbrief is the most used password-required flight planning software (gee, that was a mouthful).
  3. The best place to report BATC bugs is in their discord, if you want the developers to respond. In this forum its mostly other users comparing data.

Hope this helps!

Appreciated…
