RX 6700 XT or 3070 TI? | Quest 2

There’s a somewhat similar post to this for non-VR, but my question is VR-specific. I currently have the XFX speedster 6700 XT. but an RTX 3070 Ti is available at a store close to me for a negligible price difference. (Also can get the 6800 online) Can anyone offer some guidance as to which one would perform better in VR? I’ve seen some sites stating the Ti is better in the non-VR sim but would like to get additional perspective in the forums. (I’ve even seen reviews shows the 3070 ti performing better than the 6800 in flight sim??) Just a bit curious on the Ti performing better even though the 6700 has more vram.

Current Setup:
I9 10900
32 Gb Ram
XFX Speedster 6700 XT

Hi,

It’s not exactly what you’re after, but I use an RTX 3070 with my Quest 2 for VR flying. My card only has 8GB VRAM and it’s always the limiting factor, unfortunately.

The card can struggle with some add on airports and dense scenery but it’s fine once up in the air.

Overall, it’s a good card but my replacement will definitely have more VRAM.

Cheers,

Normaly the RTX 3070ti is faster then the 3070 and the 6700XT in MSFS2020.
But for VR meaby the higher VRam will boost up the performance of the 6700XT a little bit.
I think there is not so much difference between these cards.
If you want to boost up your performance in the near future you better can wait until the prices of cards like the RTX4070 ti or RX7900 XT drops down.

I have no experience with either cards, but coming from owning a 6800XT to a 4090, I would say that although Radeon cards got a great boost in stability after Asobo released the sim update enabling XBox for the sim, for VR users there was still a downside to using Radeon cards, namely Motion Reprojection in WMR. It was unusable with my 6800XT, which otherwise performed as well or better (in DX12 especially) than the equivalent nVidia 4800 cards.

Since MR is a good option for lower end cards than the 6800XT, I would advise seeking more info from users as to which is the better choice, when it comes to using MR at least. For DX12, especially without MR, extra VRAM seems to be a real benefit.

A Radeon 6700 OC XT has the following performance specs:

AMD Radeon RX 6700 OC or XT model
160 bit VRAM interface
13.21 TFLOPS overall performance.

GeForce 4070ti
192 bit VRAM interface
40.09 TFLOPS of power.

The new GeForce 4070ti should have three times the rendering power of the Radeon 6700, and I have seen outstanding performance in 4k gaming benchmarks (doubles the FPS of the Radeon 6700).

And the Gigabyte version of the GeForce 4070ti looks marvellous!

Have you ever seen a more beautyful graphics card? Triple the power of the RX6700, and the looks are GORGEOUS.
Go and grab it!

Can you send me some money?
Not everyone can grab what he sees and wants.

Thanks all, it was a bit of an investment but I actually went ahead and grabbed the 4070 Ti, its certainly a powerhouse. Just figured I’d future proof my system a bit and I hopefully wont get the urge to upgrade anything for quite some time. From what I’ve seen so far though the performance has definitely increased even though my visuals are higher.
