I have a ryzen 5 3600 and works around 75 deg on full load - on idle it is about 45-55 deg depending on the ambient temperature despite having a good cooler.
if you want, you can always re-apply the paste, but in my opinion it won’t make much difference (maybe 1-2 degrees)
I think what I would like is to perhaps tune my fans down a little more.
I’ve got two 200 mm fans up front, two 200 mm on the top and one 120 on the rear.
The radiator is a 240 sandwiched between the top exhaust and it’s fans. The bracket could take a 360, so there is some room to improve that.
I’ve got them all at 100% before the CPU hits 70C.
I’ve looked at some testing results and it seems near impossible to mess up thermal paste.
Overall I think the case is doing a good job. It always feels about ambient inside. It’s a MSI Sekera 500X. Supposedly a mid tower but it’s huge. It’s finally nice to have a case with room above the MB!
Just turn the fans down - AMD say it’s no issue running a 5800x at 90.
If it does bother you, then use the curve optimiser. It can be a lengthy process to get the right per-core offset, but it does bring the temps down a fair bit. Can’t say I got much more in the way of performance from it when I did it, and turned it off eventually as I would still get the very occasional crash.
That right there is the thing that will have the biggest impact on your temps.
I would say that for only 240 of rad you are seeing pretty good temps so you must have got the thermal interface material application and cooling block mount exactly right.
5800X’s seem to be hot, or not… the gaming community has long lamented them running ‘hot’ but it’s really not an issue so long as they’re not throttling. They’re absolutely fine (i.e. not throttling) up to 85C.
I’ve run and tested one for over a year now, 75-85C is normal. I’d certainly reduce your fan speeds, particularly case fan speeds, for your sanity! Case fan speeds can be set to never exceed 50%, and it’s often better to tie them to system temps or some other sensor, as the rapid fluctuation of CPU temps as highlighted by all your fans going mad is very annoying.
The AIO, you want to ensure it’s set so your pump runs 100% all the time, and then you can ramp fans up and down as you see fit. Again, there will be temp ‘spikes’ as the CPU heats very quickly when it comes under load, this is normal and not a problem: The problem tends to be annoying and over-agressive fan settings making you notice it!
That’s a good idea. The system temps as they are now seem to stay quite low. I was worried about build up from the 3080ti but it doesn’t seem to be an issue.
I had my prior FX system tuned very quiet at full load and it never overheated.
