Ryzen 7700x and 9070xt?

How do these specs sound for $1500? My concern is the CPU and power supply. Interested in using my Quest 3 or psvr2 for some PC VR gaming instead of my planned ps5 pro. Hooking up to my living room TV.

Memory: 32gb of DDR5 (2x16)

6000mhz GPU:RX 9070 XT 16gb

2Tb M.2 NVME SSD

PSU: 800 W Apevia Prestige Goldd

Windows 11

Overall your specs look good! A couple of recommendations:

  • If your budget can handle it I would highly recommend getting a 9000 series processor based upon AM5 as the 7000 based systems are older technology (but still at a good price point).
  • the sim loves the additional level 3 cache of the AMD x3d processors which improves smoothness/performance. I would highly recommend one - the 9800x3d is the gold standard for MSFS however, even the 7600x3d would be an improvement which is about the same price as the 7700x.
  • the base power supply recommended for a 9070xt is 750w so 800w should be good. The vendor (Aptevia) is rated very low (see this link) so I think you can do better at the same price. Any upgrades will most likely require a bigger power supply so if you want to future proof your system (and your budget can handle it) go bigger.

Thank you! How is the 7800x3d? This just went on black Friday sale and I ordered one and am about to pick it up in Delware so no taxes. Plus it’s returnable till Jan 15th if I find something better or if it goes on a deeper sale I’ll get refunded the difference.

I think for the price it should be pretty good for VR? Only downsides is the CL ram is high and the psu might need upgrading?

It looks like for MSFS the 9800x3d and 7800x3d are pretty similar?

A 7800x3d based system would be very good with the sim. I noticed there was a 9800x3d based PC from the same vendor for $100 more which would be well worth it if you could stretch the budget!
