Ryzen 9 3900x and RTX 2080S, still not enough?

I don’t think it is, they are using more or less the same code.

Thanks for posting this! Might help someone else.

For me it didnt do anything, I tried this before and it doesnt change it really, or at least it doesnt make it a better experience

What’s your internet speed? And hard drive?

I’m running the game off a m.2 nvme and I’m getting 30fps on a gtx 1070 with Ultra settings at 1440p. Much higher than I should be, compared to your experience.

Internet Speed: (Speedtest net)

7 Ping
97mb/s down
32mb/s up

Installed everything on m.2 vnme samsung 1tb.
(Windows is on a seperate 512 Samsung 981 SSD)

This is what I see. Note smoothness of game bar monitor

Hm, glad it runs “well” for you!

Looking at the MSI Afterburner FPS it should be fine for me as well, but it’s just not.

It’s a difficult sim in general to run, as many people with high-end specs have issues that even lower end people like myself don’t have. I don’t get near the fps other people get, but I also don’t get stuttering or anything. Until better optimization comes out or something, I’m not sure.

Yeah, I am just upset and sad that it runs so bad.

Although my specs are pretty much high end.

I hope they put out a major optimisation patch out in the NEAR future, cause I didnt pay for the Premium deluxe edition to then not be able to play it smoothly when others with WAY worse PCs can run it smoothly.

But yeah I am just upset and dissapointed

In regard to different readings, it is likely that MSI Afterburner is reading the FPS of the internal FPS counter, not actually the game.

OK, in regard to your primary concern, I do have 3700x + 2060S and I run it at 2560 x 1080. I got similar but a bit better FPS here. A few things I noticed that could improve the FPS in the cockpit are

Btw, you can totally turn up you graphics settings (I changed my rendering scaling to 150%) because this is a CPU limited scenario

Have you tried uninstalling it completely and re-installing? I did that with my other flight sim a while back and it doubled my frame rate! No explanation what was different.

Tom’s Hardware did a complete comparison analysis on running FS2020. They tested CPU’s Graphic cards and ram quite extensively. I would go read that and see where your system matches to see what you should expect. There are so many variables in setting up PC’s.

You’re limited by your CPU, every image say limited by main thread - which means your CPU is being hammered.

As your CPU should be able to cope you’ll need to look and see what else is running on your PC, as there may be another process hogging the CPU.

Yeah that is exactly what I did, but it only made it worse lol.

I made a clean install of everything yesterday, cause I thought it might have been a driver / software hickup.

So I reinstalled Windows, updated Bios, formatted all drives. So pretty much a complete Fresh install

I know it says that, but I don’t really belive that. It keeps switching the limit between “MainThread” and “Coherent GT Draw”

If you look at my CPU usage its not even being used to its full potential. Also in task manager its usage is only going up to 55% for the game.
You would think having 12 Cores running at 4.3 Gh/z would be okay but apparently not.
Having said that, its also only using about 60% GPU, with 4Gb out of 6 of the GPU memory

Try with another plane. Also, what is the refresh rate of your monitor?

I’m running with almost the exact same specs as you, and most of the time all runs fine. Last night however sim the started stuttering, and fps started to drop.
It reminded me very much of my experiences with Star Citizen, where I spend a lot of time tweaking my system only to find out all those issues where caused by the SC servers.
So last night I had the same thing, and a little later textures stopped loading and mesh went all crazy.

So, in short, seems to me slow internet/ servers could very well be causing your issues. Maybe try and switch servers wil help?

I’ll give it a shot!

2x 144hz Benq XL2411P

Maybe something else is creating a bottleneck - perhaps Anti-virus software? It’s showing 45ms on the main thread which is bad and it’s also why your GPU isn’t struggling, because it’s waiting for the CPU.

Something is hindering the CPU’s processing of the game’s requests.

That’s your problem! You are using 2 144hz monitor and the worst aircraft that goes with that refresh rate.

Another thing I read somewhere, make sure your RAM is in the primary slots of your motherboard, this also caused a bottleneck for some.
