Hello, I started experiencing issue with S_OK crash, it occurs only on long hauls and before starting the descent, so close to descent.
It is not faulty drivers (experiencing it with all drivers, tried clean reinstalling.), it is not overheating or overclocking.) In the event viewer it says “The description for Event ID from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.”
Is it nvidia related issue? Will uninstalling Nvidia app work? Saw that people with Nvidia app installed don’t have this issue, so I really don’t think it is Nvidia related. (also disabling hardware acceleration will cause problems with some addons and FG / DLSS, which is why it is not recommended).
So, have you guys experienced this issue? If yes, how did you fix it?

Yes lots of issues reported with the nVidia App, as well if you have the overlay.
For testing, I would just do a clean install and skip the app and try your flight.
Are they gonna be fixed or it’s on the Nvidia’s side?
Strange that half of people are experiencing these issues, half are not
This is on Nvidias side. Take a look at the feedback on NVidia’s website. Lots of issues with these latest drivers and Nvidia apps.
Another option would be to roll back to 566.14 if removing the Nvidia app doesn’t resolve the problem.

I’ve seen that from others as well. Hopefully your next long haul flight will be a success.
Oof. I literally have Nvida open on my other monitor right now and was getting ready to update the drivers. I think I’ll hold off a bit… Thank you!
The first time I installed 570.70 I had to reinstall windows. I think it was because I had OC turned on. I tried 570.70 again and had no problems installing the driver and the Nvidia app with OC turned off. This had never happened with any other driver.
I am still using 570.70 and the Nvidia app but have had a few odd things happen I am not sure I can blame on the drivers/app.
It doesn’t seem every one is having issues with the new drivers or app. The app definitely causes CTD if running FS2020 with DX11. With DX12 it’s fine.

I only get this in relation to intro movie playback (started to get that lately). I do not use Nvidia App at all (not installed).
Try disabling intro playback (-FastLaunch startup option) - it fixed it for me.
PS - funnily S_OK (return code 0) is a SUCCESS return code (it indicates ‘no error’)
