Saab 340: No Gust Lock Lever Entry in Checklist

{Note: I have edited and re-titled this bug to reflect the tip provided by @dpz34 that solved the original bug description. I’ve moved the bug out of 2024su2-beta as this issue is likely to have been present earlier.}

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
When starting Cold-n-Dark, the yoke in the Saab 340 is inoperative. This is because the Gust Lock Lever is enabled, preventing the yoke, nose wheel & flight surfaces from moving. This is fine, but if one follows the checklist to prepare the aircraft for flight, one cannot control the aircraft, as there is no instruction to disable Gust Lock during the pre-flight inspection.

If one has no idea what a “Gust Lock Lever” is (like me!), then one would only discover how to control the aircraft if one were to randomly click the various switches & levers around the cockpit to see what happens, or as was actually the case, a good Samaritan (@dpz34 ) comes to the rescue on these forums! :slightly_smiling_face:

Adding an entry in the “Before starting engine” section of the Checklist that says “Gust Lock Lever … OFF” would solve this issue. An additional entry in the “Shutdown” section of the Checklist that says “Gust Lock Lever … ON” might also be appropriate for this aircraft.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Saab 340

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
No 3rd-Party or Community Addons (default installation) / Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. In Free Flight, select the Saab 340 and load cold & dark at any airport. Time/weather is unimportant, but I suggest daytime with clear weather just for convenience.
  2. Once loaded, open the EFB Checklist. Choose any of the available levels and complete the Preflight checklist - external.
  3. Switch to cockpit view. Move your joystick and observe the yoke in the cockpit - there is no movement in the yoke as the Gust Lock is (correctly) enabled.
  4. Complete the remaining 3 sections of the Preflight checklist.
Expected behavior: There should be an entry to disable the Gust Lock in order to allow the Yoke to move.
Actual behavior: There is no entry. If one just follows the checklist, one cannot control the direction of the aircraft once one starts to taxi as the Gust Lock is still enabled.

• yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Only happens when starting cold & dark (may want to update the title with that information)
Controls are moving when using the keyboard but not when using the joystick.
No issue when starting on the runway.
I also have a Logitech 3D Pro joystick but don’t think it could be issue. Let’s see if other users with different joystick report the same.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Yup - just tested when starting on a runway, & in this scenario, the 3 axis & interior & exterior animations work as expected.
Title updated to reflect the Cold 'n Dark requirement.

You probably missed gust lock? You have to turn it off, it’s in front of the throttle levers

That was it !, thank you for the tip :+1:

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• no “Disable Gust Lock” entry in the checklist. I guess it should be part of the “Before start engine” section
