Saab340 electrical system

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

The electrical system operates rather strangely, so I’ve found a manual and discovered the following:

  1. GEN L/R switches are required ON in order to power the BAT L/R busses and avionics systems (this will also require an adjustment to the in-game checklist, following the linked manual, that states GEN ON before BAT ON)

    // information incorrect, disregard //

  2. certain avionics do not power on correctly (visual below)
  3. the lack of operating inverter could be causing an inoperative de-icing in the aircraft, as the anti ice system operates on AC and requires a functioning inverter
  4. this is more of a request, it would be very nice if the voltage knob on the overhead panel, named “DC MODE” would rotate freely left and right rather than having an end-point at the bottom, it’s a big part of the startup procedure

Here is a link to the material that I used to study the electrical system of the aircraft:

Moved out from Sim Update 4 Beta | MSFS 2024 since not regressions related and multiple issues are reported.

I thought that sounded a bit unusual so went and had a look myself. It’s not how you suggest according to that material. If the bat switches are on the batteries are connected to the gen bus. It has to be this way else the GCU that controls each gen would not have power prior to the gen’s coming online. This arrangement is pretty standard on many turbo props.

The gen switches to on will not do anything until the engines are running and the generators producing power.

I’m looking at busses while I should be looking at relays, my bad. it’s the AC GEN, not the regular DC GEN that has to be turned on prior to batteries coming on, thanks for the info!

Yep the checklist is GENs off, AC GENS on and batt’s on,
