Is anyone actually using the Saitek switch panel and radio panel in MSFS 2024? With some help from others, I have been able to get my yoke, trim wheel, and throttle control working but so far, I haven’t been able to get anything set to either of those panels. I know they worked in 2020 and they’ve only sat around for a couple of years so they should still work. I did get the radio panel to have frequencies of 000.000 one time, but I can’t even get it to do that again. Neither of the controls show up in the control area, but I don’t know if they did that in 2020 or not. I’m wishing now that I would have been able to have both going at the same time, but I got a new computer and also don’t have enough monitors. So, if anyone has either one working in 2024, I’d love to hear from you. They’re definitely not necessary but add some fun to flying so I’d like to use them if I can. Thanks.
Hi there,
I have saitek/Logitech pedals, yoke and switch panel. In order to get the switch panel to work you need a driver, I think you can get one for the panels from the Logitech site, but in all honesty I don’t use them, instead I bought spad.next. it sorts all the drivers needed for your kit at once.
After the initial cost, of which you want the Microsoft flight simulator version only unless you want to use your kit in other Sims also, is reasonable and after the purchase you would need to pay around £10 per year for a licence renewal.
Once you have the program, you start it up with the simulator and then have to assign actions to the various switches and such. It’s a steep learning curve but you can literally assign anything to any switch you like.
Hope this helps a little.
I have them all, and working.
Install this driver and you should be ready to go.
I use both of them with 2024. However, I had a lot of trouble with the Logitech drivers crashing and causing CTDs in 2020, so I ended up ditching that and just use SPAD.next to control their functionality. This also helps with functionality across all aircraft and advanced features as well.
I too use the Logitech panels with SPAD. They work very well, and the combination offers almost unlimited customisation. Your plane doesn’t have a radar altimeter? No problem, just build one.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Thank you for the link. I installed it and some things have started working. When I started the sim, the radio panel came on and the stations set were correct, but it went off and I can’t get it back. Also, a couple of the buttons on the switch panel are wrong or doing two things but I can’t figure out how to modify them. I went into the control panel but can find the binding when I use search by action, or whatever it says. Do you need to edit thing in a different location when using this driver? Thanks.
You can test your panels with this software.
For me they worked right out of the box. But sometimes you need to program the switches yourself. Youtube is your friend here.
I use Spad.next, I do wish it was a little easier to use, struggle to get Autopilot panel to work with any Default Airbus Aircraft,
Here’s an update after a little more work. I tested the panels with the test software and they both work. When I start the simulator, they both work. The problem happens when I use the switch panel, it kills the radio panel. Regardless of what button or switch I use; it shuts down the radio panel, and for some reason, also turns off the alternator in the Cessna 172. The radio panel seems to work with the switch panel as long as I don’t use the switch panel. I can change the radios and everything in the plane changes with it so regardless of when I touch the switch panel, it will still work, but kill the radio panel. So until I figure it out I’ll just keep my hands off the switch panel. The radio knobs are harder to use with the mouse than switches anyway so that helps. I might have to see if I can figure out SpadNext.
Make sure you don’t have a loose/broken switch that’s causing transient signals. Also, I’ve had the best results when I use a powered USB hub.
I will try that and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.
Wall-powered, to be clear. Sometimes the bus-powered ones run a little short with multiple devices plugged in.
Mine is plugged into the wall.
Forgot to paste the link above (it was late). You can test the panels with this software.
My switch panel had a broken/intermittent switch. A friend of mine swapped that out with a replacement, which has a much more solid click to it, but looks identical. I was half tempted to ask him if he could swap out all the others for me, but that would have been cheeky. ![]()
I am pretty sure he meant to say UNlimited customisation. ![]()
Aside from that, I agree. I use both panels, programmed with SPAD and it works very well. No surprise since SPAD was originally built for those panels.
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. ![]()
SPAD might seem daunting at first, but it doesn’t take long to figure out, and becomes quite logical after that. Often, finding the actual simvar you wish to utilise can be part of the battle, rather than actually implementing what you want to do with it.
