Samsung Odyssey+ working in Mixed Reality Portal, but goes black when in MSFS

Getting black screen with no head tracking (only sound) with Samsung Odyssey+…

Windows Mixed Reality Portal works perfectly. Preview of OpenXR works perfectly. With the portal running, I start MSFS and then activate VR mode. I see the portal animate to switch to the game, but I end up with just a black screen in my headset (my laptop shows the left/right eye correctly, but headset is black and headset head-tracking doesn’t move anything showing on the laptop screen). Sound works in the headset though. I’m on a Surface Book 2 with good specs (16GB RAM, GTX 1060, i7-8650U). I made sure HDR was off (my laptop only supported it for streaming video, but I set that off). It also shows off in MSFS. Any idea what is going on or how I can trouble shoot this?

Hi,
As by zendesk, switch HDR off then it should work.

Yeah I’ve switched HDR off, and it says it’s off in Windows color settings. And it shows it is off in the game too.

Ok, zendesk help support guys helped me out. They told me it was most likely due to my VR graphic settings being too high. That was it! I turned down the setting in the Mixed Reality Portal, and also lowered the resolution in the game. My advice, just play with all the settings, even reduce the resolution for your laptop/monitor too and see if that helps.

Update: Turned out to be more than the graphic settings. For my particular laptop (Surface Book 2) I had to start MSFS first, then plug in the Odyssey. No idea why this happens for this game only. All other games I don’t have to do this.
