Saved a Flight and reloaded a Mess - What Did I do Wrong?

I wonder if the same MSFS save issues are why a “continue” or sometimes “restart” after a crash on a bush flight is worthless? You may start in the middle of a forest or any other location that there is no hope of continuing instead of so semi-stable flight or viable take off location. Backing all the way out to the menu and beginning the bush flight over is the only viable option.

My experience is with the WTCJ4.

I just created a plan on the World Map from KJFK to KEWR IFR.

Took off and flew manually towards KLGA,
cancelled IFR with ATC, and landed at KLGA.

Saved the Flight with itself, replaced the .flt.

Loaded the flight and the WTCJ4 appeared exactly where I had parked it
at KLGA on the Tarmac.

Took off and when off the runway, set AP and flew to KJFK.

I understand that WT will be incorporating their work to all Asobo planes.

Hello,
Moved to our new Community Support category.

Luckily, the “real as it gets” argument is easily debunked:

  • The Toolbar and Weather settings are there before you save, they should be there after, this has nothing to do with the realism
  • In real life, if I land somewhere and I park my aircraft, then walk away and come back later I can find my aircraft in the same location, with the switches in the same position, the fuel in the same quantity and the weight and balance identical. So it is, in fact, not realistic enough
  • Navigation aids, other aircraft name plates, rudder assistance … are also not realistic, the user choses the realism level not MSFS

I strongly doubt that “not all state” can be saved, although I guess it depends how stuff works internally - but this does not feel like a completely unrealistic expectation. But even then, the basics should work and at the moment they do not.

It very much feels like only issue with a lot of people yelling get looked at. I get it when it’s a weird edge case issue that only affects some users. But this is not the case here. Most people just stop using Save / Load, but I don’t want to so I keep looking for work-around and nagging the forums and Zendesk :frowning:

Anybody seen any improvement in su9 have not had a chance to test real life getting in the way.

As far as the Toolbar / Weather icon goes the behaviour has not changed. I haven’t tested loading an in-flight save, but there was no mention of it in the release notes so I don’t expect any changes.

I have no idea what most do but some of us can get the Cloud Icon to work on the screen Toolbar on a “Saved” .flt.

That allows us to change or set the Time an Weather to what we desire.

I also can set the Fuel quantity on the WTCJ4 in the “Saved” .flt.

There is no way to save and parameters of the airplane such as Altitude, VS, etc…

The Flight Plan is saved if there was one saved with the .flt file.
But, you have to enter it into the airplanes FMS for the WTCJ4.

The WT G1000 NXi Flight Plan is automatically installed in the C172 FMS.

To be sure, when you say you “can get the cloud icon to work”, do you mean you can “get it to work” by editing the flt file, or you have some way to save / load without breaking the cloud icon?

I only found ways to make it work by changing the FLT file manually with a text editor, which is inconvenient but not hard to do on PC. No clue about xbox though.

Yes.

Maybe, for those “realistic simmers”, Microsoft should demand their real pilot license number before allowing them to play de sim, and Asobo should charge them two million dollars for the Diamond DA62.
