Is there any way to save, either elsewhere on the console or perhaps via a thumbdrive, etc., custom flight control profiles and sensitivity settings? I know they get saved within MSFS but it seems that everytime there’s a major update to MSFS, some or all of those customized settings go poof. They then have to be reentered by hand, which, to say the least, can be a bit tedious…
Or is this just (another) one of the joys of using MSFS through an Xbox (Series X)?
Unfortunately, I think we are basically stuck taking screenshots of each configuration page and re-entering them by hand.
I even have a PC and, while I can backup my settings, etc. on my PC, the control configurations for my Thrustmaster peripherals on PC and Xbox are not shared — they are treated as different peripherals across the two platforms (whereas the keyboard, mouse and Xbox controller are shared configurations).
Therefore, I’m not sure if those backups made on PC would contain the configuration information for my Xbox’s Thrustmaster peripherals if I were to restore them on PC, launch the sim to sync that restored data to the cloud and then launch the Xbox version to sync the cloud data to the Xbox. However, you can bet I will try it anyway if my configurations get lost from an update!
I guess the only suggestion would be if you have access to a PC and can install the sim on it (even if just the base content) you can backup the configuration files using it and hope that a restore would contain any Xbox-specific configuration data.
LOL…fair point, but with the collective (not to mention extensive!) knowledge here in the forum, I thought I’d ask in case someone had come up with some sort of “workaround”…
Along these same lines (newbie qustion of the day alert!)…
When flying the training missions, are those missions using “canned/baked in” sensitivity settings, or can any of those sensitivity settings be changed?
There are three “default” control profiles built in to MSFS; I’ve added several more custom ones, based on the type of plane, prop feathering, reverse thrust, etc. If/when you go into sensitivity settings and change a few things, do those saved settings apply to ALL the control profiles or just the one you find yourself in when changing any sensitivity settings?
It wasn’t a complete rhetorical question I’m no expert by any means on the Xbox platform, so I thought there might be some games where you could access it.
