Saving & Loading Custom Views

“Doesn’t that feel like you’re in a jumbo jet?” - No. Not now that I don’t see the oversized instrument panel and huge side pillars and windows. It feels more like a magic carpet with an unobstructed panoramic view. This is the more tolerable option. When I build the cabin top it will be better. The lack of windshield effects is a small price to pay. One thing I have found out over the last 7 years of experimentation is that you can never have exactly what you want. Always some comprimise has to be made.

“Did you try the Home Cockpit toggle switch in the General > Camera settings?” - Yes. Like the other ways, it had no effect.

The biggest compromise for me in FS202 is the way the aircraft throttle responds. I am really finding that hard to tolerate. So that will be my next focus.

Thanks again for your help.

I’ll write here since it’s kind of in topic: lately I’ve noticed that on my Fenix A320 when switching from view “2” (co-pilot MCDU) “1” (captain MCDU) and “6” (pedestal view from above) the camera will “stutter” in the very last part of the movement, like it’s hitting something invisible on the way to the final position. It’s a smooth movement as usual till the very last second, like it has to “reassess” the correct position before settling in. It happens only with these three views, and it’s not a msfs usual stutter due to panning.

Since this may have started months ago when I’ve downloaded a custom camera view file to add the wing views, I thought this was saved in the cameras.cfg file, but when replaced with the original one, to my big surprise, those wing views were still there! So the question is: where are really saved custom views? I want to totally reset all additional views added to the Fenix in order to see if this will fix the stutter problem.

Mine are here (MS Store version):

C:\Users(username)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes

There are folders in there for each aircraft, in those folders there is a “state.cfg” file and, if custom views have been created for that plane there will also be the “cameras.cfg” file.

I am running into the same problem as the OP. Ctrl+Alt+1 to Ctrl+Alt+0 do not save and Alt+1 to Alt+0 does nothing. I am stumped too.

I have looked at everything else posted in this thread, including my Asobo_TBM directory. It does not create a camera.cfg file. I deleted the state.cfg file (while the sim was not running) and when I went back in, the sim created the state.cfg file again. So, I know it’s not a rights violation to the directory.

I have defaulted the Options, Camera screen so everything is set as it should be…

Solved for me!

Ctrl+Alt+1 was not working. So, I set that keystroke to Shift+1 (which is not used) and then Alt+1 worked! It appears the other Ctrl+Alt+2 through Ctrl+Alt+0 shortcuts are now working too, so I am set.

Nothing to see here, move along. If you run into this issue try resetting Ctrl+Alt+1’s Input to something else and try it again with a new keystroke combination.

Thanks for that contribution.

Unfortunately for me resetting to different keys did not change anything.

So I still have no solution to the issue.

Because I only want one view in any case, I have edited the first line in the aircraft’s default cameras.cfg to place me directly in the right place when my flight starts up, whatever flight that might be.

This way I simply ignore the problem and carry on regardless.

So here’s what I do:-

Start the sim and select my flight.
This puts my “head” just above the cockpit roof with no visible aircraft parts (which is the view I want).
Move my head down with the down arrow key until I can see the GNS530 in the instrument panel.
Pop out the GNS.
Move my “head” back up with the up arrow key.

Sorry that didn’t help. You have a great rig! That is so cool!

Thank you so much! This has helped me add the camera positions as used while filming the original Top Gun onto the DC Designs F-14 Tomcat!

Having this ability in Showcase mode would be a gamechanger. As far as I can see, you can only set custom views in cockpit mode only.
