Say what you want about FS2020

Just landed in Atlanta, and I could see my aircrafts shadow directly infront of me on the ground for the final 5 miles, it was absolutely stunning, visually breathtaking. Its things like that which make me not mind the bugs so much. I’ll remember this landing for a long time.

I’m kicking myself for not recording it
Wishing for a replay feature soon.

Currently did a circuit with A320 and successfully landed with only engine 2 operating at KORD 28R. Because of bug shutting down ENG1 after a while, I really enjoyed it as a challenge.

Agree with you - better enjoy things than costantly blaming, complaining and being angry.

Yeah. I’m having a blast flying around. Those in dissent unfortunately aren’t able to play the game at all or to their liking, so you’ll see more of them on the forum.

Cool. Having a blast as well going back to Tokyo Narita from Seoul in the A320 ANA. To bad we didn’t have more positive post on this forum.

Happy Flying!

Good job with an engine-out landing!

Great thread!

I’m having a fabulous time, despite the glitches. Really enjoying the DA62… that is a nice aircraft and the G1000 seems to work correctly, so it makes it even more fun to fly.

Cheers!

Good stuff. Yeah the environment here is what has me come back to this sim.

Slightly off topic question though, and since some of you have been flying the airbus: Are any of you getting the distance countdowns on the airbus fltplan page, or an accurate ToD point? Or is stuff like this not implemented yet? (the distance to the destination mostly freezes, and the ToD point rarely seems to be in the right place if showing at all). I’ve done two flights in this thing, and I had to eyeball my ToD, and do mental math on the way down to keep on profile both times (I don’t fly with ATC).

Can’t help on that one.

I’ve been sticking exclusively with GA aircraft and VFR flights for the time being. It seems that turbines (including props) in general, and airliners in particular, are not yet well modeled.

We know that ATC is faulty too, at this point in time.

So… low and slow for me.

I’m also really enjoying this sim. I’ve been flying the 172 and TBM900 around Greece and Italy and having a blast! Also, I’ve turned off any framerate counter as I found myself always looking at it and not enjoying being a sim pilot and the scenery. I’m sure improvements will be forthcoming.

I don’t use tod, I set the range to 160nm and when I see the airport reach the 120nm ring I start a descent at 1800fpm. Then I use charts to step descend.

But yes it’s basically a mental math game atm. It’s not too bad though. I’ve always gotten the descent path pretty close to what it should be

That’s a good point: being focused on frame rate instead of flying. It was a glitch in the patch that caused the logbook to cease function that was the pivot for me. The fix was to turn off Developer Mode. Logbook works again - with full MMDDYYYY dates - but you can’t open the console to check fps.

Everything seems smooth as can be, even night landings at KSFO in the DA62, so frame rate must be pretty good. We’ll see about the lighting glitches and black avionics panels, and so far (since my complete reinstall after the patch) I’ve only had one CTD.

Seems better… time will tell.

Yea and the last patch really fixed the FPS spikes. The sim runs smooth almost everywhere now. It’s so refreshing having something that’s new but runs better then p3d and xplane. I can no longer go back to previous sims, the visuals and performance simply aren’t as good as this.

I set up a fresh install of FSX on a “clean” SSD running its own copy of Win 10 this afternoon, just for a reality check. Hard to go back…

I’m really enjoying it so far. I came to this straight from FS9 and Windows XP, so I’m kind of enjoying the learning curve while things get worked out, which they are and will continue to be. I couldn’t tell you what my frames are, the sim runs great on my mediocre system and that’s all I care about. The obsession with maximum frames really seems to be ruining the sim for many. There are flyers and there are frame rate watchers. I’m not a frame rate watcher. As for the bugs, they’ll get ironed out one way or the other and some will never go away just like in FS9, FSX and any other flight sim worth its own weight.

I quite like the Da62 as well. It’s such an easy going plane IRL as well - a real pleasure to fly. Their DA40NG is also a lot of fun

They seem like really, really nice aircraft. There’s only one I can find locally, at KSMX. It would be fun to go take a look.

I’d recommend it! You don’t see many of them in my experience in the US just yet, but if you can get your hands on one even for an hour rental it’s such a breeze. Cut one engine out mid flight, auto feathers itself, turn it back on within two minutes just the same way.

It’s an amazing sim, I’ve been flying it every day since the early alpha. It was like winning a lottery! Lots of warts but from the first moment… mind blowing. Mostly because I came from FSX, giving it up to XPlane 11 so I could get a good flight model and high res (relatively) orthos to fly over. The hunt was on for breath taking scenery. Finally Orbx shows up with that making the task easy but still only barely ZL 17 resolution. The resolution in many areas of MSFS is 6 cm… and there is no loading of giant tiles like XP, that is magic. Every flight I am gob smacked at one thing or another visually. Not to mention the weather depiction- for example low level through the mountains GA getting knocked around like a leaf. I’m pretty hooked. The last couple of days an issue arose that has caused me to troubleshoot and brainstorm so I can reinstall (so far so good knock on wood) the sim which is really the first real problem I have had with it. But I am like a dog without it’s owner until I get it back! Cheers
