Seems like a competitor to BeyondATC. Only BeyondATC is supposedly aiming for a non-subscription model.
Variety is good !

The subscription model itās a deal breaker for me.
And BATC is doing all the traffic injection which is areally big deal because most issues come from handing off planes to MSFS and letting them mangle aircraft movement like they mangle ATC. No more dancing upside down planes.
This new ATC program does not eliminate this #1 problem.
Itās actually VFR that is covered initially.
Ok. So I seriously misunderstood something there ⦠Thanks for the info.
Its amazing to me how many people dont understand the actual costs of AI speech processing. Its not like speech recognition on your computer. Its not like the SR that runs Pilot to ATCā¦
There are no rigid scripts. Its like talking to a real ATC who can figure out what you mean when you say literally āHey tower, I donāt like the crosswind on 28R, you think I can go ahead for 14 instead?ā Then it takes that and responds properly⦠Whether it decides you can or cant⦠That kind of processing costs money every time you push the talk button⦠Its been seen in the beta testing that some people actually use basically a script⦠But others sound like the GA planes you hear on liveATC recordings⦠And it handles them allā¦
Theres simply no way to get that level of interaction without a subscription or pay-as-you-go model. Not without it being suuuuuper expensive or the Dev literally paying for you to fly because itās a constant recurring cost of operation.
I get not liking a subscription model when all the software and processing happens locallyā¦kinda like paying extra to have the heated seats in your own car turned on⦠but in this case, saying its a dealbreaker is kinda of like telling the electric company you paid them in January 2015 so you shouldnāt have to pay them anymore.
Not a competitor for BeyondATCā¦
BATC is focused 100% on Commercial IFR flight⦠a communications system that is 100% scripted from end to end. You know what the pilot is going to say, you know what ATC is going to respond with, and you know where everyone is going at any given time.
SayIntentions is 100% focused on GA VFR flight⦠Where almost nothing is scripted⦠No one but the pilot knows where hes going and sometimes they change plans midflight and forget to tell ATC when theyre not in controlled airspace⦠And they pop up 100 miles from where their flight plan said they were supposed to beā¦
Much different processing models, and therefore much different costs
The only real similarity between the 2 is they both handle a type of ATC.
Regardless of understanding or not understanding the price of AI processing is expensive and even if the subscription pricing is 100% justified, it still means itās going to be too expensive for many users.
$15-$25/mo is expensive.
At 15-25 USD per month, Iām not so sure.
Oh I understand that, 100%⦠Its just amazing to me that people want a better ATC and the only way to do that is speech processing, and thats expensive⦠but paying for it⦠Oh thats a ādeal breakerā⦠That is what is amazing. This is a program with twice the coverage of Pilot Edge with the western expansion, open 24/7 at all airports, doesnāt yell at you when you call a mayday, and actually handles it quite well, for about the same price as the PE LA center or Western expansion separately⦠But its a ādeal breakerā because its a subscription modelā¦
I dont own a jet because of the cost to operate it⦠I also donāt sit around and complain that jets arent available for me to own because I cant afford it⦠Something the flightsim community is really good at⦠Complaining that something isnt good enough then being unwilling to pay the costs when it isā¦
$25 isnt expensive⦠Put it in context of other things you pay for that arent for basic human needsā¦
Dinner with the wife once a month⦠$100.
Tank of Gas⦠$50.
Go see a movie for 2 hours⦠$30 plus snacks
Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus, whatever⦠$15 a month each.
That lunch you bought at work becuase you didnt wanna take leftovers from home? $18
$25 was a lot 20 years ago. Not so much anymore.
Where do you live? HAHA thatās barely half a tank here in CA.
Itās funny. A number of people have stated the price as too high and Iāve not seen anyone jump in and say itās totally acceptable, other than yourself.
Youāre right, $15-25 isnāt a massive amount of money, but when applied to the number of hours that people are flying the sim, maybe it is?
People, apparently, watch a massive amount of Netflix (I donāt, I donāt watch TV and never really have), so the price feels okay.
Everyone and their mom is trying to take a ānot much moneyā a month from us for this or that service. When you start adding up all these ānot much moneyā services youāre subscribed to, it starts looking like a significant amount of money.
Much of pricing is about perception and perceived value. People spend $15/month on World of Warcraft ā one game, when that kind of money can be spent on Game Pass and open up a huge library of games. Spending $15/mo. today on one game seems totally dated, when in 2004 it seemed totally acceptable.
Iām certainly interested in checking it out.
What do they mean coverage of United States? What about other countries?
Exchange rate makes it too high for me.
The market shall determine how it all works out. Sounds amazing though.
Coverage of all US airports, all positions, and all centers, anywhere in the FAA control.
Other countries are coming, probably Q1, maybe Q2⦠The problem is that all the databases of the geospatial coordinates needed to map the software are free public information in the US from the FAA⦠To get the same info from ICAO, itās a little over $17,000 USD. That problem is being worked on⦠But that price just makes it a little harder to do and remains in a reasonable price range.
There will be a free area available (probably around Lake Tahoe), much like the one FSFlying school uses, that incorporates different airspaces and several airports to try it out.
Heh. Thats Why Texas is better.
This is my issue at present, not bothered about the Price per calender month, Just only available in USAā¦so its a definate NO to me.
I like to fly everywhere around the world, Not just about USA. Its a flightsim.
Its typical MSFS transitional altittude only 18000 ft, ATC, we only fly in USAā¦it bugs me.
I would not get my money worth, as I only probably fly in the USA once a month. I know its unbelievable its a big world out there.
Happy New year to everyone in the world.
I agree with JWATTS0275, however, Iām interested and expect if there is enough interest, the dev will expand to the rest of the world
US only coverage is only temporary. World coverage is coming as soon as it gets figured out how to do it without the insane cost (over $17,000USD) of the ICAO database that the FAA provides virtually for free. Currently, itās looking like the dev is going to end up trying to pull the coordinates from flight sim to try to match it as close as possible, but that idea only came up in the discord a couple weeks ago⦠so itās gonna be a minute.
Thank you,
Then I will wait until that happens before I push the button. Happy to pay monthly subscription until it is world coverage,. But I can assure you I will not be an immediate customer until reviews. I have pilot2atc, FShud, PF3 and pointsoft Pro-ATC/SRā¦all have their issues and problems.
Ps yes I do Vatsim but coverage is basic where I fly, not 100% coverage
Until then, after release there will be a small free area that will include multiple airports and various airpaces and nav aids to play with, with full functionality inside the free area
Yall should join the discordā¦
