I know this is a question asked before but I just cannot find the answer.
If I start the aircraft on the runway engines running I have the pilot showing in the cockpit.
If I start in cold and dark on the ramp no pilot but oxygen mask only appears to show.
I have seen reference to a click spot on the right hand side of the cockpit to toggle the pilot but I am unable to find it.
Can anyone help an elderly pilot please ?
Thankyou
The pilot isnt visable inside the aircraft. Only from the external view. The pilot visability switch is on the right side console near the front outside edge. Tool tip will show as pilot visability. Also the Interactive checklist will show you where it is
The pilot IS visible inside the aircraft if you use your own custom view and not the default. And toggling “crew visibility off” does not make it go away. It makes the pilot go away in the exterior view but not the cockpit view. The only solution I’ve found is setting pilot weight to 0, which I try to remember to do before every F-16 flight. It’s been a bug for as long as I’ve had the F-16.
The custom camera is an external camera, which is why it allows you to move through the canopy glass. As i said the intetnal view does not show the pilot, only external cameras allow this.
Found it, many thanks for help
It is not an external view, and does not allow me to move through the canopy glass. It’s a saved internal view. I believe what I am using is VFR view keybind or something to that affect, which allows the player to save their own custom angle as a default for each specific aircraft. With external cameras, the pilot can be disabled with the switch. With this view, the pilot does not go away unless you remove pilot weight. It IS a bug, but probably not a bug that the developers have ever come across as they’d have to save their own VFR pilot view to see it.
Il ask him next time i fly with him
It’s not a bug. The pilot is designed to vanish when you’re in the seat, using the stock Asobo camera options in the cameras.cfg file. Move to a custom view, and they appear, as they’re mostly used for dynamic images and screenshots - this is common to most aircraft when an internal pilot figure is included.
The pilot figure is being removed for a while with the update, before a new, properly mesh-animated high resolution pilot is added. This new one will also have a switch to make him invisible, rather than having to rely on pilot weight.
Interesting. This is the only aircraft I own that has this happen, and I use the VFR Pilot View in all aircraft, including the Stearman.
Currently, it’s the only way we on Xbox can set a custom cockpit view for each aircraft, so it seems removing pilot weight in the F-16 is my only option for now. Hopefully there will be new settings that come along with MSFS24 that will give users different options for custom views.
Im also on xbox. I dont use the custom cameras for cockpit view, I move the camera to my desired vuew point by using the sliders in the camera options menu and it saves it as default. Never have to remove the pilot or adjust weights at all
If I remember correctly, those sliders are a global setting that affects your view in all aircraft, don’t they? Rather than saving independently for each aircraft.
I have one setting that suits 90% of the aircraft I fly
Yeah, that wouldn’t work for me. There’s just too much variety across aircraft with where the default cockpit view is. Some too far foward/backward, too high/low, FOV too zoomed out or in, instruments I need on screen, etc. I like having that custom view for each aircraft so I can set it and forget it. Ideally '24 will have that.
