Scenery in some areas looks like FSX

Due to work commitments, I couldn’t fly for 5-6 weeks. Today I finally had some time again and was looking forward to playing MSFS 2024, only to discover with disappointment that even at the highest settings, the landscape looks like jam. The buildings and such are really good, but the scenery in some areas is so bad it makes you want to run away, just like in the old days of FSX. I’ve completely lost interest.

Will this ever be worth playing again?
And my internet connection is 1000 Mbps.

Personal Comments and Observations

Bandwidth means little compared to latency and if the ISP is throttling your connection to the Azure CDN. Some parts of the world look better than others, even from a base Bing Maps Streaming because not every nation or city has good DEM. I have a very slow 150Mbps but I know my ISP isn’t throttling me to the CDN, so it looks very good with Map Streaming + PG on. I also most fly in CONUS and Western EU, so the DEM is of course as good as it gets given these regions have been the focus of the bulk of World Updates historically in the sim. YMMV as they say.

As far as I am aware, there are hardly any reliable reports of that. As Azure is used by so many websites and services, ISPs would be highly reluctant to throttle it, as it would make the user experience for many sites so much worse.

Besides, if you actually look at what MSFS2024 streams, you see it is not massive chunks of data.

Do you have Dynamics Settings turned on in the Graphics Settings by any chance? I wonder whether this setting being enabled is resulting in things like your Terrain Level of Detail (TLOD) being lowered, and therefore even though you have the highest settings selected, the Dynamic Settings option is overriding.
