Scenery Package Order Conflict

We are receiving a noticeable amount of reports regarding Marketplace sceneries suffering from rendering issues (incorrect terraforming, conflicts with objects from other sceneries or official content). This is a recurrent issue caused by conflicting priorities with newly introduced official content taking priority over existing marketplace sceneries.

With Sim Update 2, we introduced “Package Order Hints” which lets developers specify what kind of content they are publishing and how it should be prioritized.

For example, a package flagged as “CUSTOM_AIRPORT” will always be mounted after and take priority over a package flagged as “GENERIC_AIRPORT”.

However, this is only applicable to packages that are native from MSFS 2024 and were published after this system was introduced. This means most of the Marketplace, still consisting of MSFS 2020 packages, does not benefit from it at the moment.

We are aware of the problem and how negatively it impacts players and scenery developers in particular. Asobo Studio is exploring ways to address this issue and extend the benefit to all 2024 and 2020 packages. In the meantime, such issues can be circumvented at player level:

  • On PC: the “Package Reorder Tool”, accessible in the Advanced Options setting menu, can be used to override priorities for each package.
  • On Xbox: the only solution is to disable the conflicting package through MyLibrary
