Has anybody tried this one? @SPilot95 @HBTEA

I use Openkneeboard with my Wacom and it is excellent. It has proper integration of the API so supports pen hover pointer and weight .

I have various OK tabs setup so I can cycle through airport and airspace PNG files, and a custom form I made in Google docs that I write on when taking notes from ATC.

It can show one or two Kneeboards so I can always have my form ready for scribbling on .

Highly recommended!

Hi @SPilot95 ! Chris, Author of FSdesktop and FSKneeboard here. It sounds like you tried FSdesktop but it didn’t work out for you? What is it that you are missing?

If you are primarily looking for a tool to read charts and take notes in VR, maybe FSKneeboard might be a good option to try as well. You can find it at https://fskneeboard.com  Let me know if you have questions, need support and/or want to provide valuable feedback regarding either FSdektop or FSKneeboard

Cheers,
chris

Does this work in VR with a Wacom tablet like Mike5285 describes? If so, I’ll be happy to try it. But I haven’t used MSFS in over a year waiting for a better hardware to come out. I don’t have a VR headset anymore waiting for a better one to come out.

Chris, if you could integrate the wacom SDK into fskneeboard then it would be amazing. As it is you can’t use it with a tablet, the pen isn’t really a mouse, they have different behaviours so the SDK is the only way to overcome the various problems.

Also FSDesktop, I’ve tried 0.1.0 and I have two problems. The first is that mouse clicks don’t seem to be recognised in parts of a window covered by other windows. The second is lack of mouse drag and double click. I know you have those on the roadmap, any ETA for some of those enhancements please?

For now you can try Openkneeboard which is free and also works in 2D. If you already have the wacom it’ll cost you no more than a little time to evaluate.

Thanks, I’ll check it out. Using a mouse to write notes doesn’t work for me. By the time I scribble one letter, ATC has finished giving me the entire clearance. Purchasing an XR-3 + subscription just to see notes with pen and paper in VR is way out of the the price range of most hobbyists

Yes that’s the exact trouble I had and solved by Openkneeboard+wacom.

Hi,
I have now a wacom tablet and I am struggling to setup Openkneeborad to be able to write notes with the pen and see them in VR. Can you please tell me what you have done? I have now wacom recognized by Openkneeboard, with the buttons assigned, but how do I setup a window capture that I can write on? Thank you!
