Screenshot advice

Hi all,

Just a quick question really about how people take screenshots in MSFS - specifically in relation to using Volanta?

I use the built in Xbox app screenshot functionality using ALT-F1. It works fine and saves the images as PNG files to my local drive, and I have Volanta set up to monitor that folder for new images. However I run MSFS at 4K, and I guess there is some issue with size/resolution/format, and if I try to use any of these to upload to my flight in Volanta, it takes ages then seems to time out - the error being that ā€œNo response was received from the serverā€.

If I manually convert the image to a JPG, then it uploads in Volanta just fine.

So - I need a SIMPLE way of screenshooting, and to the format of my choice (JPG), rather than PNG (and I canā€™t find any way to change the format that the Xbox app uses).

I should also say Iā€™m using the Microsoft Store version on PC (so no screenshot functionality from Steam, etc)

What are you guys doing in this respect?

Cheers,

Mike

I just checked, and the Xbox Game Bar screenshooter also saves in png format. I would suggest resizing down to 1080 instead of converting to jpg - youā€™ll retain more clarity with similar file size compared to a 1080 jpg.

At the risk of taking this off topic, I still havenā€™t figured out why this sim has had the screen shot function removed. With FSX you could take multiple screen shots while flying and then look at them later.

To me this is something Iā€™d like the sim to have, rather than forcing us to us various ā€˜get aroundsā€™ to do screen shots.
