All – Spent all day yesterday, and well into night, reinstalling this sim. Although I have a quicker way, because of the new files under X:\Xbox Games\3 folders here, I felt it may not have all the complete sim, so downloaded the whole thing and the Content manager as well. Community was gone before I started. MSFS then had my flight controls based on my last configuration (3 days ago) and loaded up those settings. Aint sure but think that is bogus. Currently, the changes made in the latest SW build/release, render those almost mute or not effective like they used to be. Read on, you will learn something.
The current release/build, MSFS-1.29.28.0, has rendered all my flight controls “well almost all ineffective”. First a listing of all the secondary control surfaces, choices available in Sim. They are as listed on screen:
- Toggle Spoilers.
- Toggle Arm Spoilers.
- Spoilers Axis (0-100%).
- Spoilers Axis.
- Set Flaps Continuous.
- Set Auto Spoilers.
- Retract Spoilers

- Increment Spoilers.
- Increase Flaps Continuous.
- Increase Flaps.
- Flaps Axis (0-100%).
- Flaps Axis.
- Flaps 4.
- Flaps 3.
- Flaps 2.
- Flaps 1.
- Extend Spoilers.

- Disarm Auto Spoilers.
- Increment Spoilers.
- Decrease Flaps Continuous.
- Decrease Flaps.

OK, first, why are spoilers and flaps spread all over the place, no consistency, nor order to them, like I keep saying, this thing is a total mess, right hand and left hand are not even on the same body. I have tried every single setting under all the flaps choices to get them to operate as they should, one set works, it is, 11-Increase Flaps; 23. Decrease Flaps. I can operate them full on, full off, nothing else, unless I choose to use keyboard, however, if Virpil TM-3 Throttle unit is active as primary device, keyboard will take flaps to where the lever is set, even a little movement on/off and they go full on or full off. Previously, you had a slider displayed on control choice which showed up, and you could reverse the axis, if necessary, that is now gone, same with spoilers, slider indicator and reverse axis check box is gone.
So, thinking SIM had totally hosed my controls, I made sure to redo them in the Virpil software just to make sure nothing wrong. New firmware, profile, recalibrate, whole lot. X-Plane works just fine with my controls, MSFS, another story. My Virpil VFX stick, has twist for rudder, spring loaded, returns to center, plane no longer responds to that control input. Tested various “choices in rudder control” now, only one which works keeps rudder left even when stick returns to middle, must turn right to clear left input, and sure enough, go past middle to right. NONE of them work like they used to. Pitch down, return to center, pitch stays down, and you by now get my drift. In Real Airplane, that is normal I believe, BUT air pressure over the control surfaces will cause them to return to center. So not real.
Up to SU10, things worked fine, now, am not going to waste time trying to get DC Designs F-14 and PMDG 737 reinstalled, since could not control them as it stands now. I just hate the way two steps forward and 20 steps backward. Not going to fly this until SU12, so just wasted whole day and most of an evening to find out, devices I spent hundreds of dollars (close to 1000 USD) which used to work perfect, now not much at all.
If any honeycomb folks, please tell me how you have flaps and spoilers set, as I mimicked that once got Virpil and it worked fine. And I cannot be the only one having this issue. As stands now, going to reset to default and see what happens, but guess nothing will work period, since MSFS does not have the device in its database period, sees it, but cannot configure it. Just aint got clue, because it used to work fine.
