"Secret" first person full screen view discovered

Okay, so some of you have likely beat me to it, but in some jets, you can move the camera perspective right out of the cockpit by holding down the left bumper button and then using the left analogue stick to place your camera. I place it right on the nose tip and gives an excellent first person cam, full screen,no readouts if you prefer, or a minimal one which can be set from the Assistance options and then User Experience.

I recommend zooming cockpit cam out all the way from the camera options and then moving around the camera to the nose. Unfortunately, this works only with the Mig 29 and F-16 for now. I tried two other jets, the camera wouldn’t budge.

Anyway, just thought I’d share it here. Also, why does external cam zoom always default back to 50 whereas cockpit zoom stays where I left it?

The default pilot view can be configured in the Options I believe, including zoom and eye height IIRC. So it resets to whatever that is set to.

Nope … I was referring to the cockpit cam moving right outside the cockpit… So far, I’ve been able to do this on the F-16 and Mig29 only.

How do I do it on all aircraft?

It would be incredible to play from nose cam once AMD FSR hits.

That could be considered as a bug on these aircraft and not a feature. They basically miss the collision model in these areas.

As per design they should have that in place like all default aircraft to prevent the camera clipping through the mesh.

On all other aircraft you would have to set up a camera outside of the collision which likely is not possible on Xbox (on PC you can alter the camera.cfg file).

Cool… Well, I hope they leave this bug as-is because I’m enjoying my makeshift first person full screen nose cam immensely.

Kinda surprising why a full screen view with HUD or dials, depending on the aircraft, isn’t in the game.

(1) What is a “left bumper button” and where does one find it?
(2) What is a “left analogue stick” and where does one find it?

I’ve never heard any of the buttons described this way.
Are these on a standard keyboard, or are they on a sidestick, or on a Xbox controller?

i refer to it as the go pro camera. this works on some prop aircraft too

Those terms refer to the Xbox controller.

Dude, please read the thread tags, you’re the 5th person I’m saying this to. The tags are there for a mighty fine reason.

Good day.

It’s brilliant, eh? Gives the game new life. “Thrilling” is an understatement when flying 100 feet off the ground past mach 1 in a fighter jet.

If only the Devs find a way to increase the 30fps lock for SX/S owners.

Double post. Please ignore.

I don’t know about this one but I know of the backseat can’t get back to the front seat camera view on some of the planes. Lol

Not so much a bug but a feature on third-party aircraft.

Lets you pretend to climb into the airplane at the start as well, as seen in the beginning of this video:

Clipping out in VR is also neat. In theory you could do a walkaround, but it would require your VR room to be in a hangar.

Great tip!
Thanks - I love being a passenger and back seat driver

both F-14 and 15 are so much fun. the F-14 can also be handful and a great challenge

I’d love to get it,but not until they make the game stutter free on SX. It’s not optimised all that well and hiccups during subsonic or supersonic flight at low altitudes, which really breaks it for me.

very true until the core of the sim is sorted i to would advise not adding anything new to it. paid or free.
