Hello, I have some guest whose flight takes off at 07:45 from Bonn Airport at local time. The actual code is PC1016. They are actually my older sister with her family visiting Turkey for the first time after moving to Germany at mid January this year. I would like to escort their flight in an F-16 since I have been flying the plane since 2010 in various sims. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated to make sure I will be able to make this wish come true from taxiing to take-off and close formation flight.
If you are using a PC then install the free FSLTL software - that will inject real-world traffic in near real time, usually with the correct aircraft type and livery also. It’s not 100% but it’s pretty good.
If you are on Xbox then you can try your luck with AI traffic - it might pick up but it won’t have the correct livery and may not fly the correct flight plan.
Thank you for your reply, I will just install it and do a test and share my feedback. I am running MSFS 2020 on PC Xbox Gamepass.
Just gave it a spin and it is really accurate, thank you alot for your time and responses! Cheers!
I would really like to know how your experience at following a real flight works out. Please post an account of your experience.
I was at Bonn Cologne Airport like 15-20 minutes before take off, I was waiting at taxii in an F-16. I have also had FlightRadar24 in a tab in internet browser so I was validating Airliner’s moves. Something that taught me a lesson was to never lose eye-contact once the Airliner started taxiing in MSFS 2020 3D World, because it can take off from a runway you do not expect and it can do it before you notice it, which was my case. Then I took off after the Airliner and could not find it since there was also nearby distracting other airliners in 3D. After flying close to the flight path of the Airliner for maybe half or 1/3 of the flight, I have gone back to menu as I have seen the Airliner was heading to directly fly over Linz City in Austria. Then I have gone to World Map and started a new flight right over Linz, it started me at 37k feet and I don’t know why it did that. Then I caught my indicated airspeed while waiting for the Airliner, I have seen on FlightRadar24 that no other aircraft was heading that direction and also passing over Linz so after that it was easy to find it. Then it was a quite pleasant mostly close formation flight till SAW/LTFJ landing. One thing at the landing was that the aircraft did a different pattern while landing and landed at opposite direction of the same runway in 3D relative to actual FlightRadar24 path. Actual flight did the approach pattern over Marmara and 3D one did it over Black Sea. I guess it was because ATC guidance in real life.
Awesome. Glad it mostly worked out!
To help track flights in the SIM in future use the free and 100% awesome LittleNavMap. It will show the injected aircraft on a moving map. If you have a second screen pop it on that, or even a separate device like a laptop. Or use alt-tab to flick between the SIM and the LNM window.
Shame it didn’t fly the same approach. FSLTL now uses the appropriate STARS but if MSFS has determined that a different runway direction is in use than IRL (fairly common) then that can’t be helped. It’s amazing that it actually landed!
