Seeing inside Airport Terminals

I have been playing FS on Xbox for a few weeks now, I keep seeing on youtube that you can see inside airport terminals but I can’t figure out how to on xbox. I use the drone camera but it just goes through the buildings. Any help would be great.

It’s totally dependent on airport scenery packages you do, or do not, have installed. If you don’t have a custom airport where the developer actually created the interiors, you’re just going to see empty “boxes” with no interior.

I’m a new xbox simmer as well, and have made it a goal to land at every “handcrafted” airport included with the game and world updates. Part of each visit is seeing if any interior buildings are modeled and while I know many payware airports have these unfortunately it seems very few of the built-in handcrafted airports do. The only one I’ve found so far is ROKR - Kerama (Japan). It’s very small but you can actually “walk in” the building with drone camera. Hoping to discover more along my journey,

The one large payware airport I bought (RJAA- Narita) currently has known crash issues on xbox although I can still “walk around” inside with the drone camera. No fun to fly in/out when it crashes though…

Thanks, I finally figured this out as well this morning. I bought ORD and DCA and can see inside those, stupid you have to spend so much money on stuff that should already be in the game, I upgraded to premium deluxe and all this stuff should be in there. Oh well I still love the game

Maybe I’m misunderstanding you, but are you seriously suggesting that every airport terminal in the world should have the interior modelled in FS?

Literally didn’t say that

Well guys.
But you are all aware that we still talk about a FlightSim and not an AirportSim??
I never really understood why we as a pilot need the insides of the terminal. If all goes well we are mostly in air or on runways, taxiway and apron.
Sure it’s a nice addition to have also interior. But is it really needed?? Well for some it seems so to get the right immersion.
But also keep in mind that every insides of a terminal has to be rendered even if you normally don’t see them. So this also might lead to performance and maybe also memory issues.

Regarding the handcrafted airports. You’re getting a better modelling than stock of the airport (but still far from payware niveau) for a cost of about 3€ for each one in the different Sim Versions and even at no cost (!) with the world updates. Do you really think or expect developers doing interiors for this price?? If you want them buy payware! You probably will get then what you search. But the price will be much higher.

I totally agree with you, hey it’s about flying! If I want to see terminal insides I can do so as a passenger IRL. Beside, except for a very few ones (WSSS as example) they all look the same and are mostly very boring.

Good point - it is after all a flight sim (not an airport sim).

With that in mind, I hope the developers will improve the algorithms or whatever does it, so that whatever generates the taxiways & runways would also generate more usable corresponding taxiway/runway signage!

I also agree that one can get good immersion in flight simulation without looking around inside airport buildings, but deficiencies in taxiway and runway signage mean I often have to rely on displaying the taxi ribbon to ensure I’m complying with taxi instructions issued by ATC. Having the taxi ribbon switched on distracts from the immersion IMHO, but without better signage the alternative (switching off the taxi ribbon) is risking violation of ATC taxi clearances. And knowingly risking violating ATC instructions wouldn’t be good immersion!

I may have seen an add-on in the Marketplace that you can walk around. Select an aircraft as a human. Its called BOB. Orbx Systems owns it.
You can also walk around and check your aircraft.

Well that’s your opinion and it’s part of the game. Not sure I see the big deal.
