Fixed on Live @Zadma
I hadnât seen that one, apologies - only this one, which is marked âBug Loggedâ and the topic remains listed on the issue tracker with (last I checked) Planned for SU4.
Hello! The night is still incredibly bright! You can see mountains dozens of kilometers away as if it were daytime, as if those mountains had their own light.
Hope you fix that, as well adjust some things at night, especially night city lights that we see during cruise also.
Thanks a lot
Anything mentioned on this in the latest development stream?
Finally someone ![]()
Mask is one issue, still need the lights to not look like giant orbs
Canât that also be archieved with ReShade?
Not sure, never tried it
Will be interesting how they did it. Itâs easy to adjust it with black level to look completely dark but then youâre missing details in the cockpit.
But when you look at the pictures above it looks like you canât see anything in the distance which is not rendered. This will probably only look good at low altitudes.
Why do we have to be looking for a 3rd party product to fix something so obviously broken in the base product?
Does anyone else think that maybe someone at a high level put down a marker on this being great and cannot afford the knock to their reputation/ego that would be involved in acknowledging and fixing this issue?
How does that theory reconcile with the fact that theyâve confirmed it as a bug and have it planned for SU4? If that were the case, surely theyâd be ignoring it entirely so as to save this imaginary personâs ego.
The thing is a while ago this issue was already marked as resolved in live environment, when it clearly wasnât. It was only once users pushed back and pointed out that it in fact hadnât been fixed that it was again marked as bug logged. Itâs now in the backlog for SU4, which if things go well maybe released by the end of the year. Lets see if it is actually fixed in SU4 or just we end up in the same situation. I will be the first to congratulate them and hope that they manage to sort it and I am being too sceptical.
this is exactly my concern. the issue was raised in FS2020 as well and all they did was dim down the sepia mask.
the night lighting issue runs well beyond that. just need to compare to x plane or to a real life night photo. nothing glows as bright as MSFS 2024
It cannot be attained with reshade
donât know what is worse, the fact that for most game fixes (payware) addons are needed, or that those addons exsist therefore MS/Asobo has no need to actually, in a timely manner, and BEFORE releasing a game, to fix these issues?
I just ran a comparison of the only area that I could find in the XP12 demo, with the 2024 SU3 beta. Here is LOWS, at night, same time.
XP12
2024
I hope those working at night get to wear sunglasses, as that is bright! You can also clearly make out mountain ranges in the distance, which are almost impossible to discern in XP12.
XP12
MSFS
The ever present problem of bloom on lights, like the entire camera lens is smeared with vaseline.
XP12
MSFS
Again with the bloom on lights.
Great comparison and points. Canât believe they havenât fixed this yet.
The lighting at night is far, and away better in X-Plane 12 than either 2020 or 2024.
I need to re-run some tests but this is what I saw at night quite a few months back. Not only do the lights have bloom around them but this star effect as well. There was also this effect where the camera stopped moving, and the lights started to get brighter, like the same light was being drawn over the top multiple times, increasing the bloom effect. This disappeared when the camera was moved, then came back when it stopped.
If had to be cynical about it, I would think someone was sat on a couch watching a TV 10 feet away, thought the night lights werenât very visible, and then decided on some pixel doubling effect to make them visible at a distance. Itâs so bad!
I just checked in 1.5.21.0, and it is still there.
Add the sepia mask, and although I didnât show it, that at night looking over the lake you can clearly see the horizon, against a lit up sky, and it makes night flying a less than enjoyable experience.
