Been playing on my pc since it was released, thought I’d try it out on my Series X.
The controller won’t work properly.
Around the menus the right stick won’t do anything, I can use the left/right bumpers to get around the menus at the top and the d-pad to move through the big tiles. Once I get into them and to any parts that require the right stick, it won’t do anything, so can’t fly or anything as I can’t select any of the tiles for flying.
I can go into the world map and the right stick will move the map around but I can’t select the drop downs for either arrival or departure points. I can get to the box to switch aircraft or weather, but that’s it.
I have tried with both the wireless controller that came with the Series X and my Elite 2 controller same issue with both.
Can’t get the mouse pointer option anywhere, I can get into the content manager but can’t get down to the list to install the world updates.
I’m having the exact same issue. My theory is I setup a controller on my PCand some settings came over during the sync process and now the xbox controller experience is borked. Need someway to reset to default settings maybe? I can’t even select options on any modal prompt that appears. Frustrating
Plugged in a mouse into the xbox and went to controller settings. Set the controller config to default using the mouse. That seems to have brought back the cursor control with the xbox controller. Will keep you posted if it continues to work. Looks promising so far
I’m having the same issue. It pulled my custom settings of my 360 controller on PC over to xbox install as default controller settings. I used a mouse and and changed it to default and it kept the same custom settings after switching to default bindings. I’m in the process of trying to tricking the cloud server. I booted up PC, plugged in 360 controller, changed that to “default” and saved. Hopefully that will update cloud setting and now pull over to xbox after reinstalling. Unfortunately, I think that may be the only option, too reinstall the msfs on xbox again. I’ll follow up on wether it works or not.
Same issue here. Ridiculous! I have never had custom settings or hooked my controller to a PC. This is why I prefer to play on Xbox, so that games just work and I don’t have to screw around with hardware that may or may not work!! But really? Game is released that the controller won’t even work on?
So this work to fix the issue with controller on xbox, but we shouldn’t have to do this. I loaded up PC version, connected 360 controller. I then screen shot all my custom controller setting on PC. I deleted the custom 360 profile and saved so there was only a default profile on PC. I then uninstalled and reinstalled xbox msfs. This worked and corrected the issue on xbox from the cloud server sync. You might try to goto pc and just change your controller setting to “default” and save and then reinstall. I didn’t want take the chance of having to reinstall a third time so I deleted the custom profile completely. I’ll add it later on PC.
Data caps imposed by Comcast make this constant uninstall/reinstall of a 100+ GB game a terrible workaround. We shouldn’t have to do this level of work to get a controller to work properly on our console.
I’m sure they’ll work out the kinks in some patches.
Oh, I’m sure it’ll be fixed sooner or later, but how did something so basic get through testing in the first place?
Surely they must realise that if you have a dual-platform game, there’s going to be more than a couple of people that might actually want to run it across both platforms?
Same issue. That was a real bummer yesterday. I did not set anything up about my controls or on a PC. been playing on my XSX as-is since I bought it last year.
I’m sure this was noticed by their QA, but apparently wasn’t prioritised as a showstopper bug. Well for me it is, and I won’t be playing until I can navigate the menus properly.
exact same issue here. Unable to navigate menus on XSX with the controller. Fix this please I dont want to reinstall 100+gb again OR lose my pc save data from cloud. Cmon guys that was bad…
Fixed it. Just deleted the extra xbox controller profile on PC msfs. Leave only the default one. Started xsx msfs, it syncs from cloud and uses only profile present (default controller)
Plugged in my wireless mouse from my pc, which it detected. A box popped up giving me the option to stick with default or Customise. Except I couldn’t do anything because neither the mouse pointer or controller would do anything!
Quit and went to manage game, deleted my profile on the console, restarted. Had a working mouse pointer on the loading screen and it actually stayed working once the game had finished loading, so was able to go into the controls section and put the controller as default and all good. Now I can actually move around properly in the menus and more importantly, actually fly the thing!
This has got to be the absolute stupidest thing I’ve ever seen!! Really? Need to plug in a mouse and go set the controller to default because the software is taking the default setting from my PC via the cloud??? If I’d have paid for this (other than gamepass) I’d be demanding my money back in anticipation of other really dumb decisions.
