Serious performance issues with introduction of PSVR2 to my system

Recently purchased a PSVR2 to see how the OLED looked in my favourite games. Side by side I have the Valve Index.

I’ve spent countless hours, as I gather we all have, fine tuning my system perfectly for the headset and the Index has been fantastic. I can get very stable visuals that I’m more than happy with so I thought the transition to the PSVR2 would be quite seamless. It’s not worked out this way unfortunately as there are a few niggles with using the PSVR2.

System:
7800X3D PBO & Curve
4080 with a mild OC
X670E Board
6400Mhz RAM, running 6200Mhz solid
Windows 11 X64 with all the latest updates (and optional)
Steam version of MSFS fully up to date, no external add-ons. Everything is Microsoft.

The main niggle I found with PSVR is that the iGPU needs to be enabled for the PSVR2 app to run in Steam (for me at least). I’m thinking that this is somehow affecting or simply confusing the render on where to go.

I’ve tried setting everything in the Nvidia control panel manually to ensure the 4080 is selected. I’ve also tried various reductions in settings etc to no avail.

The performance drop is noticed across both the PSVR2 and the Valve Index, where previously I have had no issues.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this? The game will sometimes look OK, but more often than not the performance tanks to a literal slideshow. My CPU and GPU are getting next to no use in FPSVR (less than 30%).

Losing the will to live now a little.

Managed to use DDU to wipe out all remnants of the AMD drivers. Worked fine and rebooted to disable the iGPU. All worked fine and the PSVR2 app now opens fine.

Now when I open MSFS and opt for VR Mode, it states that OpenXR isn’t installed. Not really sure how that could be possible with a SteamVR version in use. Tried my Index and it’s now exactly the same.

I both love and hate tech at the same time. I’m sure I’ll feel great once I get it figured out

I had to turn on motion reproduction on steam for the psvr to stop stuttering. I had it off with my reverb g2.

Maybe try to message VR FlightSim Guy. He had the PSVR2 working on his system as he did a comparison between it and the Quest 3. Maybe he could give some insight on getting it working. Personally, I think this is what happens when a company tries to hambone a piece of their tech to work with something that it was never designed to work with from the ground up.
