I’m having problems trying to install my simulator and I’ve decided to open a thread to see what can be done.
I bought the simulator a month ago and at first it seemed fine, it was installed with problems because I was waiting 2 days. When finished well except for changing the climate and that’s why I decided to uninstall it and install it again but now, it is impossible to install it; it keeps going down infinitely “lsza-lugano” and when it gets fed up, it enters the program with the notification that it has not been downloaded properly and when I exit and enter the program again, it returns to the same thing.
I would like to know if there is any installation trick or something similar.
Maybe reinstalling it and trying a thousand times or whatever.
It may be that this topic is repeated and for that I apologize to the moderation in advance. I also appreciate any kind of help.
@TedStriker4104 I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this installation issue.
Sometimes I have found that when a particular package gets stuck on installation it needs a bit of kick start to get going again.
What has worked for me in the past is to identify the package that is causing installation issues.
I then exit MSFS when this issue arises and browse to the package installation folder.
Default location:
MS Store:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages
Steam:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages
I then delete the partially downloaded packages… from your example it would seem to be microsoft-airport-lsza-lugano
The files should have extensions like .001, .002 etc after them.
I then reboot the computer and re run MSFS and that often corrects the issue.
I would also suggest that it would be a good idea to install the packages in a custom location rather than the default. Information on how to do this is found here.
Since I have been like this for weeks, I have executed that solution too but without restarting and the result has been similar in my case.
Since this morning I’ve been reinstalling it following the instructions you mention and, for now, it’s going well… something unprecedented in my experience.
We’ll see if it just installed everything and lets me fly legally and cleanly, which is what I really want.
It may be as simple as the download servers have been a bit overloaded with all the patching that has been taking place in the last 48 hours and now that the bulk of that has passed you may have a successful install
The downloader/installer has a confusing issue whereby the download progress bar loops over and over again when a package has multiple parts/patches. I’ve seen it before, and for me it eventually completed (although my issue was not with lugano but with fs-base which is probably much larger).
Hi ! yesterday I completely reinstalled msfs (this does not mean that I have horrible CTDs since su9) but for information; before reinstalling the game, you must remove EVERYTHING from MSFS on your computer…all traces!! whether through STEAM or the Microsoft store! even check in your registry file just in case! after that, restart the new installation which should go smoothly… like me and leave it in Vanilla mode once installed to test the crashes…
It’s a very strange issue and I don’t understand why it keeps getting caught up on lugano. Perhaps if one of us was to re-compress our already-installed lugano folder and share it. I don’t know what the rules are about sharing game content though.
If you are still having trouble I would be inclined to try a compete removal of anything the sim has installed and try install it again from scratch.
Before reinstalling I would also…
Make sure windows is completely up to date.
Same with the Microsoft store.
Log out of your Microsoft account any any other similar service accounts, e.g. Xbox.
Shut down your PC.
Reset/restart your router.
Power up your PC
Google how to start windows in a ‘clean boot state’ and do so.
Log back into your accounts.
Then try a fresh install of the sim in a custom location.
The other day I was stuck at 16%, then it crashed twice, then I finished up the download with a memory error that popped up that I wasn’t going to click. For whatever reason this sim just takes a lot of persistence - don’t give up.
My second computer then took about another day to finally install and that was more related to the Xbox App Store.
As you can see, Lugano is not there and “apparently” is already downloaded, but look at this other screenshot of the installation folder:
but no, this has been skipped!!!
So when it’s supposed to be over, go to the program’s interface, exit, and when you go back in, try to re-download it and so on infinitely… I’m not going to go crazy, today is Saturday and it’s time to enjoy with the family.
