I have a life, OK? I have not read this forum or played MSFS since last weekend. I had this afternoon off so thought I’d do some flying, not knowing 1.9.3 was already out. I fired up MSFS and asked if it was OK if it made changes to my computer. I said yes because that’s happened from time to time. No harm done in the past. But now my game says it’s 1.9.3 and shows Mt. Fuji instead of the old TMB over KSFO when loading, without ever checking for updates. Marketplace is grayed out (so can’t download the new Japan), it says I’m online but am not and cannot connect to any server, and the store page does not have any update option. IOW, now my game is totally borked.
WHY?!?!?
Back during alpha/beta, Asobo told us when the patch was coming out so we KNEW to follow the steps in the correct order. And when 1.8.3 came out (again with me ignorant that this had happened), when I tried to launch MSFS, a box popped up saying I needed to go to the store and update there. Then MSFS itself closed and the MS store page came up, and that updated, and then I launched the game, and that updated, and all was sweetness and light.
But this time? No warning at all, just a big trap for the unwary. Launch the game instead of the store, and you die. AND IT’S NOT EVEN THURSDAY (historically the usual day patches come out), making it even more of a trap.
Seriously, MS and Asobo need to do things like they did in 1.8.3, where the system ASSUMED you didn’t know there was an update and forced you to do things in the right order. WHY is that not SOP?!?!?!?! What just happened to me is unacceptable.
Oh well, off to talk to tech support to see if I can salvage this or have to reinstall (a 36-hour grind on my weak internet). Good thing I stocked up on beer on my way home from work. I’ll be needing it.
