SETTINGS - Unable to Delete New Render Window

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Unable to Delete any new added render window in SETTINGS - GENERAL - Advanced Options (see attached pic).

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Access the Settings and navigate to Settings General, Advanced Options
  2. Add new render window.
  3. Select the garbage bin and nothing happens!

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I use 3 monitors. It was easy to add the monitors, but when I hit the trash can icon to remove them, nothing happens. I change from full screen to windowed and “X” out the monitors to get it to work

Clicking the trash can by each Window in Multi-Window doesn’t do anything in 1.4.13.0.

  2. Try to delete each Window by clicking the trash can for that window
  3. Notice nothing happens as it did in prior releases

Update: I uninstalled the beta and all working fine now. I have not tried re-installing the beta so don’t know if the problem will reoccur if I do. I’ll wait till the next version then maybe give it a go

Update #2 Now on Beta 3 and the same issue exists …

• I have the exact same issue. Adding render windows works ok, the ‘delete’ icon does nothing.

• I have MSFS 2024 SU2 1.4.20.0, no ‘betas’ installed.

I’m very familiar with the multi-screen options, having run 3 screens for many years.

The previous behaviour that a new window opens on one of your additional monitors when you click “Add new render window” still works.

The previous behaviour that that action should be unwound when you click the trash can next to the window entry in settings seems to do nothing.

The only way to clear the windows is by clicking ‘Reset to Defaults’ next to ‘Save and Back’ at the bottom of the settings page. (An exit and restart of the sim doesn’t fix the issue)

• Game crashes if I try to fly in any mode, or if I enter settings in fullscreen mode. If I enter in windowed mode - I can enter the settings, but not fly anything still. When inside settings, nothing happens when I try to delete the render window.

I have the same problem but I found a solution as a temporary fix. Made the rendered window to window mode instead of full screen. Pressed the X top right to close the window and they were deleted in settings. Did not come back after I restarted the sim.

I see the same issue in MSFS2024.

FWIW have not seen the issue in MSFS2020.

in case it’s a clue: when my ‘Delete’ icons became non-functional, my side windows got flipped to ‘Windowed’ mode (I had originally set them to Full-Screen), the settings UI still allowed me to click the ‘Full-Screen’ option but that UI became non-functional also, i.e. although ‘Full-Screen’ got highlighted, the side screens stayed in ‘Windowed’ mode. I could ‘maximise’ those windows using the normal Window maximise button so it was kinda fullscreen, but still had the title bar at the top.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: I was running SU2 and using 3 of my 4 monitors with no issues. I then signed up for and installed Sim Update 3 Beta - 1.5.19.0; performance was very bad so I tried to remove the extra windows. I could remove “window 2”, but not “window 1”. At the same time, window 2 has the title bar up top if I choose “windowed” mode, and it goes away if I choose “full screen” mode. Window 1, however, doesn’t show the title bar in any configuration I choose, and I cannot click the trash can to remove window 1.

  2. go to Settings - Advanced Options - Multi window.
  3. If there is a “Window 1”, try to delete it

Mine is slightly different; I can create and delete window 2 and window 3, and manipulate them correctly. It’s only window 1 that has issues.

Not sure which workaround you are using to delete the added windows 2 & 3, but for your window 1, have you tried to setup it up as full screen, then moved it back to windowed and from there you can close it from the task bar. I am under SU3 but I assume it should also work under the Live version.

That report applies for whatever window is added, from 1 to x, the bin icon does not work.

I tried to create my own report but the mods moved it to this one.

Good suggestion; I am able to close the window from the Windows task bar.

I also inadvertently closed it by going into VR last night. :slight_smile:

I deleted the new window by removing the entries in “UserCfg.opt”. (Make a backup just in case!)
