Hello. Just want to remind people and myself, or even better, Asobo team about several things yet to come:
World update 19 Brazil and surroundings
Sim update 16 (for 2020)
World hub (both sim)
Shared bing maps and new photogrammetry for 2020 and 2024
Yes I know, they’re prioritizing 2024 now. But.. I’m sure that several months are just not enough to fix most of 2024 issues. So whether they still have time, or intention to deliver several things above, I’m not sure…
msfs2020 will never get the "new photogrammetry " and other eye candy features the 2024 version has. They could do it, but not going to . msfs2024 gets all the goodies , that is the selling point for the 2024 version so they not going “enable” it for the old version …
How do you know?
It’s possible some of the improvements are linked to the new engine. But you’re right: they WON’T do it, even if they could. Would completely defeat the point of selling a new product.
Good thing for 2020 users is: World Updates will available for 2020 and 2024, and with the Eastern European WU they already started implementing some new TIN around Dubrovnik for example. So I’m expecting Rio de Janeiro to look really cool after the next WU in both sims.
..there is no new engine … Asobo uses the very same ACE engine they used for the 2020version. The biggest change they had to implement is the streaming of most data , compared to 2020 …
I somehow get the feeling they bit off more than they can chew. They should have just stuck to 2020 and improve all aspects of it/resolve issues. 2024 shouldn’t have been released until at least late 2025 or early 2026.
Thing is, once they decided that the sim was going to be based on a streaming model, they had to release FS2024 as soon as possible. I think many can agree that it was too soon. I think those same people can agree that it was Microsoft’s marketing department that forced it.
But I can only speak for myself and my own opinion of what happened.
That makes sense. It has potential but the forced streaming model has put many people off, including myself, and many have reverted to FS20 as a result.
I just cannot get the game to look decent on Xbox, no matter how fast the internet, or what else I do such as disable live traffic and increase rolling cache size - the game pales in comparison to FS20’s sharp, clean, and pristine visuals with great draw distances and LOD in general.
It’s not the Xbox - it is lack of optimisation and servers that just can’t keep up. I will just play FS20 mostly for now, so glad I tried FS24 only on Gamepass otherwise I’d be so mad right now, LOL
