Severe FPS drop with small planes : is it this...?

Ok. Just want to find why i have fps drop to 17 (instead of 30 vsync) on a particular airport.

I’d choosen LFPG Charles de Gaulle where i used to have fps drop to 17 during 20 secondes when i take off and just fly over the airport.
In my case, i found that when i choose a small plane (like cessna), fps drop come ONLY with planes who have digital instrument (modern screen). All the others (with old school instrument) i don’t have fps drops.

I tried ALL the small planes ( with same airport LFPG, same settings, same weather), and each time i can reproduce the fps drop. Even with the two version of the cessna, the modern one (with digital instrument) have fps drop and never the old version (with analogic instrument)

It matches all the time!!!

For the others users who have severe fps drop with a specific location, could you please trying to test this method of plane with digital instrument / older plane with conventional instrument to see if they have fps drop again ?

(for information, selecting refresh rate to low/middle/high on instrument screen doesn’t change anything for me in fps drop appearing)

Any digital instrument panel (Garmins) cause a 15-20 FPS drop on my system
I wish that was something they could fix

The problem you are having I have even in planes with analogue only instruments.
I happens over some airports (even some that only have a grass landing strip and a hanger!) and over some locations on a map that doesn’t seem specific to objects on the ground

These performance drops are known and being worked on by Asobo, so hopefully we’ll have a fix soon. People have been going nuts trying to figure out how to fix them, but this is a glitch that’s baked into the sim. Take all the advice that’s floating around the forums with a grain of salt, save yourself the aggravation of trying to fix things, and we’ll be back to normal soon enough, hopefully:-)

Glass cockpits (digital screens) have an impact on fps because they use more CPU. That’s it. You’re still experiencing the same fps drop bug with big or small planes. It’s just that glass cockpit really just uses up more CPU resources thus it seems like big planes have bigger fps drops.

i knew digital screens use more ressources and a well known tip is to lower refresh rate of digital screens in the settings to get higher avarage fps. But it’s for -average- fps.
This doesn’t really seem to correspond with the bug of a constant 30fps dropping to constant 16-17fps during 20 secondes and suddenly coming back to 30 fps without any particular complexity of the terrain or others reasons. This kind of fps drop looks very strange even if we consider digital screens lower average fps rate.

Well Ive been saying it for months now. Asobo doesnt have the network bandwidth to support the project.

And on the news a couple of nights ago there was a story (local) about MS having issues with bandwidth on their cloud services. It seems working/schooling from home is eating massive amounts of bandwidth at the moment and they dont want to increase it (even if they could) because when things go back to normal in the world those issues should subside and then they’d have too much bandwidth.

Now this would help explain the crazy behavior of the game, where one time of day the thing runs fine and other time it runs like FOO!

Same here. I reason that small planes with digital instruments, some with 3 Garmins, experience FPS drop is that your processors are trying to create data for 4 screens at the same time, assuming you have just one system screen. 3 screens in the plane itself, plus the screen you are watching the other 3 screens with. Uses waay more available resources.

Getting this as well and I have not found a fix to this. Will be picking up the ryzen 5600x probably this month and it hopefully it fixes this issue for me.
