I think there are (at least) two different issues - Asobo themselves acknowledged as much in the Q&A
The ticket with Zendesk I logged last nightâŠ
"I have an i9-10900K CPU overclocked to 5.3 GHz and a nVidia 2070 Super video card. Flight Simulator is installed on a dedicated PCIe SSD with nothing else on it. Prior to Sim Update 3 (1.14.5.0) I was running in the 60 to 75 FPS range with Flight Sim graphics set to High. It was buttery smooth with no stuttering at all. Perfect!
Following Sim Update 3 (1.14.5.0) my FPS dropped to a steady 12 to 13 FPS with massive stuttering. It is unplayable. The stutters are so bad, it pauses for a second or two, then starts to move again. Itâs like a slide show."
Iâm out until this is fixed. MSFS 2020 is now unplayable for me.
My experience: Changing the European server to an American one improves performance.
461.81 but I tried many âoldâ driver and same result , low gpu usage since update
very very same issue here, i tried to replicate it on two totally different PCâs with different graphic settings, and look here, same problem at the very same position and time. copy - paste.
easy to duplicate, try a super short flight, less than 10mins from
ORLAMPA INC (FA08) to WINTER HAVEN RGNL (KGIF)
take off is fine, as soon as you head south at 1000ft it starts and stays until landing in winter haven and getting worse.
I hope for a fix, and i donât mind if it takes time as long as itâs a real fix.
there is pretty much nothing more to ad at this point, i feel quite sad about the whole issue, what would Asobo think by changing it to the worse with pretty much every update, update ruines something so they need a update to fix their update, and this ever time! Where and who are the patch alpha/beta testers, do they exist? And watching the latest QA, celebrating them for the âgreat, lossless optimisationâ it feels pretty mich like a slap in the face, or non of the three guys actually ever took a peek in this forum themselfs?
one thing to add to the debate: surely a memory leak by the looks of it, but how to expolain this? Performance Degradation with 1.14.5.0. Upgrade - #189 by Ju1ius2416
Worth pointing out that it seems most of the work in this area isnât in a branch that has been released yet and if one had to guess is probably in the DX12 development branch that weâll see rolled into the main branch in the summer.
I was glad to see they were considering a beta testing system for updates, that would be a good idea IMO along with slowing down the monthly release cadence to allow for a 1-2week beta test, feedback and subsequent bug fixing cycle. Iâd be quite happy for them to push sim updates back to 3 - 6 monthly if needed.
If you read the first post in this topic, I identified the memory leak last week and reported it to ZenDesk. My ticket is still open which means they are working on it.
Can someone explain this to me. The Sim is not fully utilizing my resources and my FPS are below 20. It does not happen all the time. Sometimes the FPS get much better but still not the same performance before this latest âpatch.â This software should not even be a beta, it is so darn unstable that I have not finish any of my flight because it makes me sick in my stomach.
I have the same problem. My FPS are the same until at some point it doesnât matter my settings, location or airplane I get this HUGE fps loss. It is making the simulator unusable ![]()
Asobo, please fix this.
The CTDâs that were fixed in the previous update came back with this last update. Sure wish they would get them fixed. I can only fly for like 15 minutes and boomâŠ
Something changed, my whole game looks different. Stars in sky are sharp, textures a lot sharper, lights sharp and not anywhere near as bright (City lights not bleeding up into the sky). ATC now works differently (Different options and what it says is different) Finally got live weather on flight 2 woooohooooooo!!! , and⊠I flew from Cornwall to Wycombe Air Park in the UK. Not a single stutter the whole way. Smoothest its ever been. But, now it does get laggy on the ground. Only spot though. Wonder if itâs my resolution 3440x1440 why wasnât as sharp in the past. I just had the best flight after days on end of â â â â stutters 3fps. My sim too seems super snappy. GPU stayed loaded the whole flight RTX 3090, it got up to 74 degrees celcius on a 200 resolution scale.
EDIT: NO This is NOT a joke, itâs like I got a hidden update
I got excited when I read your message in hopes that Asobo was giving us a little surprise. But, to no avail. My system is still dumping fps like there is no tomorrow. I have an area I fly that as soon is i reach a certain point, my GPU performance goes
right down the tube. See photo, you can see the drop i experienced as soon as I crossed the invisible line. So, I think it does have to do with where you are flying.Mr Tony, that is the worst spot to get laggy/stutters issues, when you are on approach or takeoff. yes, at altitude I get up to 62-64 FPS, beautiful, but as soon as I get below 5000ft and the world scenery starts getting detailed, that when it hits. Something interesting, I have a 1 Gig fiber optics connection, and when I am flying low , my NIC speed creeps down to the bare minimum, almost like their servers are on overload or they are just throttling us.
I flew at 3500 feet the whole way in a carenado mooney. It was smooth on take off very smooth, but at 200 feet it got a little rougher and while destination airport taxiing, need to check further.
its a real pain I have the same issue, CPU rockets up and GPU drops off so I go from silky smooth 40 FPS to a stuttery mess with 20-25 FPS and most times it never recovers, never happened before Update 3
Mr Tony, was it a big Airport on take off and approach or a small municipal type airport? I do my tests on the biggest airports available, because I know my system can handle, well, that was last week, before the patch. I use Dallas International all the time, just to be consistent. Sometimes I get 40+ while sitting on the runway with the Longitude and sometime like you see on my post above right after departure.. 18 FPS, almost a slide show. PainfulâŠJust about everything you need to know is on my picture, and as you can see, the GPU and or CPU is barely being used. I recommend that utility I use, HWinfo64. It is free and it uses less than 1% of CPU while running. Everything, even the most demanding geeks need to know is available for your viewing.
Doing my fav flight thats been bug lagged from CYTZ to CYXU, I did get some stutters entering the area that normally crushes me, not at all the same thought and didnât last more than 30 seconds and I was through it. I normally can contact ATC as well to land then get clearance within 6 miles or so no matter what. At wycombe I had to actually fly the left pattern of the airport to get clearance even though it was straight on. Back to my flight
Could you start at 76T (Bishop Airport) and tell me how the performance is there?
Edit: According to most users this is the best spot to confirm if your Sim suffers from the same problems
Tweak112, here it is, 76T (Bishop Airport)
Please note the REAL FPS on the second FPS counter (the gray one).
I had to do a force shutdown of the sim because is was doing like 2 FPS. Never got to the inside of the cabin. Tweak11, I believe the issue then is the world update, which depends of where you fly. Their servers are screwed up and that should be an easy fix.
