Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

that’s why tuning down the graphics would be a major error and not at all a solution

It seems as though something is making the Series X work much harder - in another thread someone raised the idea that perhaps it could be related to the new turbulence /airflow model increasing calculation load - much more data to download maybe? at a more distant radius to the Series S. That might mean everything would need to work perfectly for the Series X to perform stutter-free. It’s either that or just that the Series X is trying to render more distant objects than was the case before SU9.
That might go some way to explain why with the narrower radius of detail the Series S machines are performing super-smooth… it’s got to be something like that to explain why the series S is actually running the sim astonishingly well consistently and the Series X doesn’t. Only the devs would know - and only if they tested COTS Xbox S and X side by side - they ought to do this as a priority IMO

That might be relative to my good flight today - i was in the air at just before sunrise - therefore no turbulence at all.

I might try the exact same flight tomorrow but early afternoon and see what happens.

Yes, will be interesting to see how you get on….
I noticed less stutters when panning over water - but there are also no objects to worry about either so doesn’t really help…

Still sick of the auto turbulence, probably the worst of all the defects in the game, just so impossibly idiotic.

I’ve just been flying around islands and remote areas to avoid most trouble with the game.

Did the same trip twice today, LIRS to LIRJ, cache off and deleted, mostly manual but last leg on AP, visual approach.

1st test was at 1pm local time, bright sunny day, no cloud. Started off badly with 6 disconnection/reconnection errors, settled down by the time i took off. A lot of turbulence as was expected, very bumpy ride, passengers were all sick  AP freaked out on approach and pointed me at the sea instead of runway, i did a missed approach and went in successfully that time. A lot of very irritating pop-in of the scenery on approach, no stutters though.

2nd test was live time and live weather, just as bumpy as previous test, some clouds but still sunny, AP worked fine this time, still terrible pop-in on scenery, it also kept popping or changing :frowning: No stutters though.

no cache usually makes the sim more prone to pop ins unless your connection/server “status” is strong enough (it doesn’t always matter if you usually have a top notch connection)

wrote here a couple of weeks ago and for me the sim still running very well with minimal stutters while flying low on PG heavy cities

just sitting here waiting for all the goodies that may be unlocked with su10 (which is still far away though)

I see that pretty regularly, however it fixes itself when you come back to the Welcome screen.

Yes I just found that out. Very odd.

One thing I cant get my head around is why the ‘images’ on the page are layered so they appear in stages i.e. background first followed by other objects on top.
Why isn’t it just an single layer image?

Asobo works in mysterious ways!

I fail to see why - the current knowledge of the cache is that unless you fly over the same route more than once, it does nothing at all apart from giving the system a file-writing burden.

indeed, that in fact may be the case for some users

as i flown a lot in nz i saw a big difference in popin with the cache off

edit: at least in some instances since it may widly differs from one day to another depending on server connection

what worked for me since the beginning of time was to switch every time i had some kind of problem

Reading the last X number of posts it would seem that many of the “workarounds” are just Snake Oil.

Given the local sim installation isn’t changing day-to-day, it must be server/network related issues that are the cause of the inconsistencies.

I can’t play again. all the parameters are at the minimum, and I have “the download is finished” with the bell which appears again. then impossible to launch a flight. Either black screen and Xbox menu ´ or black screens in the cockpit. A nice bunch of incompetents who work!

Was playing around with cache on/off. I settled with 16GB of rolling cache the last 2 days, but it doesn’t work well for me. More and unexpected CTD’s. I disabled it again.

I hate to say it, but this game is getting close to a nightmare. Never, ever in my 30 years of gaming have I experienced something like this.

One positive the last week or so: the ND range keeps working. That’s the only positive I can think of right now. And lesser CTD’s(with rolling cache off in my situation)

That bell appearing is 50/50 here. One time it does, the other time it won’t. Again, what the actual f***:joy:

I have all the same issues on Xbox S everything was fine and the S can more than handle full graphics and all add ons. Ive been playing so much i invested £350 in the new Turtle Beach velocity one system. And ive really enjoyed the Spitfire and others ive paid for. Now the sim is unplayable. In any other industry if you pay for something and it doesnt work your entitled to a full refund under trading laws but the IT industries just get away with it everytime with the old line that they will fix it in the next update , sorry for the rant but its just not right.

The sim runs much much smoother on my S than the Series X since SU9- I did have troubles with CTDs but have only had two in last fortnight. What sort of problems are you getting on your S? And what third party addons are you using. I ask because there have been many problems particularly with third party airport and scenery add-ons…

New one for me, ATC keeps dropping out. I can respond, though I can’t see or hear what the ATC is saying (although I can obviously deduce what they are saying based on my response options) this seems to happen particularly whilst using the 787-10.
