On another note, how did he get vsync working with DX12? I thought it didn’t work. Or is that only with frame generation active?

This. Frame generation disables vsync.

Hi @Henkerhaus, it is normal to get screen tearing with VSYNC switched off. The purpose of VSYNC is to prevent screen tearing.

VSYNC synchronizes the frame rate of MSFS with your monitor’s refresh rate, so you don’t get part of one frame displayed with part of another on your screen, this prevents screen tearing.

This guide explains all about VSYNC in more detail:

Because it’s not a bug, I’ve moved your topic to Tech Talk

Thank you for the explanation and clarification. I thought VSYNC was just a way to limit frame rate down to just what your display was capable of producing. I was not aware of the screen tearing aspect or purpose. I had turned it off to see what frame rates I could be potentially getting otherwise. I immediately noticed the tearing issue and though that it was a defect.
