Hello Sim friends,
i have a lot of aircraft and airfield i purchased on MFS2020. I actually found them in the Marketplace > Library and there, as i was aware, are my other aircraft and my airfields there.
Shall i activate them? Why are they deactivated? Shall i wait until they are available? What is the wisdom behind this thing?
I have some, by far not all, 2020 purchases enabled in 24. Highly recommend checking aircraft for compatibility before activating, and then, only one at a time. If not yet backwards compatible, deactivate it until it is updated for 24. The same for airports & scenery. Good luck, take your time.
May I suggest starting with any recently updated (in 2020) airport from a developer you know and trust? Any airport that you know works smoothly in 2020 is a good airport to try in 24. You can’t break anything, just deactivate it if you don’t like it in 24. Aircraft models are a little more fussy.
Be careful activating too many Marketplace items, especially scenery related. Some power owners (i.e., they have dozens of airports etc.) have reported they’re unable to launch the sim successfully with all those DLC enabled. There’s a known bug being tracked on the Dev Support site that streaming can’t support too big a 2020 DLC.
Ok, so I understand the situation over there, is it too big a (single) DLC? Or is it too big a DLC load, meaning sum total of all 2020 DLC’s enabled in 24? Just trying to understand because I’m having good success with stuff I know, but then again I’m on Xbox and so not a power user by any means, which is probably a good thing right now LOL. Thanks!
I just did a quick count, so far I have enabled 56 airport/scenery DLCs from 2020, about half of which I have seen in flight so far. Add a few 2020 aircraft which brings me up to 60. On Series X, I have had no more than half dozen CTD’s since 24 launched, so I don’t think DLC content is affecting my instance in any way so far. But I will be very selective from here on out!
I wonder if this affects users with community folders? On Xbox I would surmise that 24 is only streaming what my box is using at the time, which would be half the solution (the other half being streaming an airport that is too big to stream.).
I don’t have too much scenery outside of MP, but I do know that the streaming is affecting large package kinetic scenery like GAIST, Seafront Sims which can be served from Community, but that’s also tied to BGLs not working.
I have one Payware and a bunch of smaller freeware mod airports, so far so good. But nothing is over 2GB.
Yeah, I saw the vessels thread and have avoided all that in 24; I recall something pre-launch that 24 would have boats, and so vessels might not be needed at all. That was my hint to just leave those out of 24 for now. Don’t know what GAIST is, so I probably don’t own that. Thanks.
Henrik wrote GAIST (Global AI Ship Traffic), best freeware ship traffic mod there is. And MS lifted his stuff and Kaii’s scheduling for FS’24. They were featured on one of the Dev Stream reveals. Sadly, it’s a ghost of what GAIST actually is.
