Shared cockpit/multiplayer

Maybe we can ask about the planned timeline in the next Dev Q&A.

Good idea, do you know when the next Q&A is?

No I don’t. I think they usually are held a couple of days after a Sim Update or World Update.

Ah looks like we just missed one. I will keep an eye on this channel thought for news of the next one. I look forward to what they say about shared cockpit. Maybe a nice Christmas present!

Maybe they also have a Dev Q&A after the AAU (Avionics and Aircraft Update) in January. We’ll see. But I don’t think it’s likely.

I would love to use a vr headset for a passe ger( think non sim, gamers, old folks etc) but still have a window that I can use to actually fly .

Now that is a cool idea. So you are saying other player could join your plane and just be passengers?

If only there was some kind of official forum where any of them could comment on this
 hmmmmm

That’s what I am thinking.
I have tried to show the VR flights to my parents and other non fly folk, and they just keep spinning their head around, making it impossible to see what I am doing. Especially if doing “sightseeing”, No biggie if you just crack on the AP

It’s impossible for any of us to say for definite, it depends on Asobo’s server setup/limits and whether there are any other limitations we haven’t forseen!

My hunch is option B:

Because they have to stream the world data to everyone simultaneously anyway, and the data quite possibly comes from a different server to the one that handles multiplayer anyway.

I wonder what the actual hard limit is for people in your vicinity? Or does it just render the X number of closest aircraft?

You can possibly already do this with the multiscreen support introduced in SUX. You could try setting the VR headset and screen to different screens/views.

You know I am not really sure. I thought it just renders the closest, but I have no idea really! Guessing that would impact overall design quite a bit. Maybe they might start with private servers?

They might do, but I think they won’t. (Because I’m sure they can imagine how upset a lot of people would be lol). I think they’ll wait until it’s fully ready and then release it.

The thing I’m wondering is whether it will support all default aircraft at release? And how will it work for third party aircraft?

We’ll just have to wait and see :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah I heard others mention about 3rd party compatibility, but as you say - time will tell! I wonder when the next dev stream is? I do know we have had a good vote increase on this! 754 to 813! Happy days!

It might be next year(end of january/start of february), i don’t think this year there’ll be any dev stream.
Also even if people vote for that topic doesn’t mean it’s discussed by default. I think at previous qa someone added the topic, which got some votes, but it wasn’t mentioned.
The best luck i think it’s in the chat on twitch when the stream will occure. This is what happened last time when it was mentioned(i think).

VOTED! Yes, please!

Would be super cool to fly with a friend who doesn’t feel too comfortable yet to fly nor do everything alone!

Looking forward towards the update!

Just BC I don’t have a lot of experience yet multiplayer
Are aircraft-aircraft collisions a thing? Or do you just pass through other vehicles unharmed.

Hi there, planes will just disappear if you get too close so no collisions.

@Tossy64 @GunnerRat You can also change a traffic setting so others don’t disappear, but you still go straight through them. MSFS doesn’t have aircraft-aircraft collision, ever.
