Shimmering, shimmering in 1440 TAA!

Hi again!

After some extensive testing, I am back on TAA for antialiasing. Found that using DLSS-DLAA makes instruments to blurry unfortunately.

Hello again. Did you find any TAA setting (maybe with scaling) that removed the shimmering from fine details as fences, antennas etc? Im on DLSS-DLAA-mode (thanks for the tip) since a cpl of month back, but I also find instruments a bit too blurry. Sharpening at 30, not sure if the sim looks good above that.

Just posted another question regarding this, since I forgot we talked about it.

Hi!

Seems we have to choose between blurry screens with DLSS and shimmering fine details with TAA… so far I haven’t found any setting that fixes both of these, so I’m stuck on TAA for now.

Sadly, I just discovered that with DLSS-DLAA you get flickering fences as fine details as well + moire. =( Almoste better with TAA in a way. Sharpening to 30 on my 2K screen. Native res.

HI, I know this was over a year ago but did the shimmering ever stop? I’m currently going through the same and I’ve tried every combination of every setting over the past 4 weeks in NCP, in the sim, the CFG and the GE force experience overlay. I think this was caused by the last world update.

Its mainly my avionics that shimmer as the fine lines are now too sharp.

The settings I sim on (taa) are now no longer playable.

I run a 13th gen CPU, 4080, 2k monitor, all drivers updated.

any update would be grateful, thanks

Put your render scale to 105. This way you’ll get SSAA. Way better and no shimmering.

With TAA and 2560x1440 (native) ? =)

Yes that’s right. TAA in the native 2560x1440 on an Odyssey G7. I’ve noticed it since I upgraded from the standard version to the deluxe version on ms2020

Ok, but no additional sharpening then?

Not to my knowledge. I’ve even turned the sharpen off in the CFG file. It’s also off in the menu in the sim, and off in Nvidia Control Panel. Is there any other places I could?

OP- This suggestion makes a lot of sense (to me). You could try TAA and bumping Render Scaling (in the Sim) higher than 105 in small steps.

I’ve set my RS higher and reduced TLOD to offset the performance hit. Helped a lot with shimmering.

No harm in trying😊

One year later… =P

Is the shimmering better, same or worse in FS2024?
