How to go around the shimmering on windmills, fine details on instruments etc? LOD settings does nothing to this issue… Do I need to work myself into the NCP - and what to change there? Otherwize Ultra settings.
Hi!
If you have a capable GPU, Use DLSS, DLAA mode. That removed shimmering for me, but Instumenst get a bit unclear, but managable
Freddy
Hi. DLSS and DLAA? I though DLAA was downscaling a higher resolution. Please tell me what you mean more specific? I actually think I tried that but the shimmering was still there.
Nothing seem to lower the shimmering from what I have tried.
Should I override in NCP or…? Any suggstions? I will have another look att DLSS though.
=)
Hi again
In my sim i can choose as follows
Anti-Aliasing: NVIDIA DLSS SUPER RESULUTION
NVDIDIA DLSS Super resolution: DLAA.
Freddy
Hello! This did not help, Im afraid. I think the general quality on the graphics outside the plane is not looking near as good as it did a cpl of month ago. Inside the cockpit all fine lines etc are shimmering. Nothing Ive noticed this much before. Something has changed, not sure why.
DX11 TAA att the moment. Will try in DX12 but I doubt it will help. Is 1440P an odd resolution causing all these problems?
Hi
Some thoughts:
-Are you running on your monitor native resolution?
-Is sim resolution same as monitor native?
-set your Nvidia Control panel to default.
-Disable any filters if used in Nvidia overlay
Try and switch settings in msfs that affect all options: e.g set graphics to medium ore high (can be some issues in you usercfg.opt file, changing the graphics the way mentioned, resets the usercfg.opt file
I have always used TAA, but recently changed to setting mention in my first reply, as my new OLED look better without shimmering objects.
Freddy
Native res on my LG27GL83a
Yes, both same native res
Nvidia CP is set to default
No filters used by Nvidia (Geforce Exp not installed)
Swithing to DX12 actually made things looks better with DLAA. I might have too heavey settings for my setup. Ultra. But I have around 40-60fps on most places (not seen how much DLAA affects this).
Im actually into oled as well (love it on our tv sets), but not sure how the shimmering accours here really. i will try and lower the sharpening on screen and see, but its on default (50).
See no reason for you to have extensive shimmering. OLEDs have a much better blacklevel, making the more distant objects more visible at night, and that’s why I changed from TAA in my case. I just purchased the Alienware AW3423DW monitor, and I am really loving the superb image quality in HDR
Freddy
Will probably get an oled screen as well. Is Oled and TAA not working well together?
It’s working, but as you see more details at night, distant objects shimmer more on TAA then on DLSS-DLAA
Freddy
Oh, I see. How about DLSS Quality (but that probably degrades the image quality more?)
For me, DLSS - Quality is worse thatn DLAA… DLAA is the best option on DLSS for me :).
Freddy
A bit OT, but what are your specs etc?
there is a setting in the lower section of the graphic settings that causes that. I’m not sure about its name, try them out.
Hi. Are we in the sim or in the Nvidia Control Panel? Please see if you can find the name for it. =)
I don‘t have NVIDIA… in the sim. I would have to try it the same as you so you‘re faster if Ou check it yourself, I won‘t be in the sim j til the weekend
Im having all on ULTRA exept for the Depht of field, sunrays etc. I think theres something with the new update…
I followed a youtuber which had me changing my Nvidia graphics settings to using image scaling and anastropic filtering 16x and a bunch of other settings which made MSFS look awful. It was shimmering everywhere. I reset my Nvidia settings back to default and the issues were solved. Anybody who looks at these Youtube videos be prepared to do your own research as well, that’s my take away.
Not sure if any of it is relevent but good luck anyway
Cheers! =) All settings are standard in NCP. What I found was that when lowering preset to High instead of Ultra, things looked (for me) sharper. Also changed from DX12 to 11 again. Not sure what did the job. Feeling lite an engineer more than a sim gamer here…
Have an I5-13600KF CPU, GTX3080TI GFX card, 32 GB DDR4 Ram, two 1000GB PCie4 SSD disks. Running 3440x1440 on my AW3423DW QD-Oled display.
