Should I add a lubricant to my side stick?

I have the thrustmaster TCA airbus side stick and when I first got it, it had some sort of oily substance in the bottom (see picture) should I add some again or leave it as it’s sort of got dry now…

Ignore the dust btw haha, I clean all my stuff on Saturday night because my room gets dusty and it’s Friday night so yeah

This is the stuff you want… it works great!

Nyogel is a damping grease with pretty specific properties. These make it great for camera lenses, tracking rails etc but it’s also fairly expensive and whether you need some depends on exactly what you hope it’s going to do to a simple plastic ball, spring and friction plate gimbal.

In truth a regular plastics safe silicon gel lubricant would work if you simply want the parts to move across one another with less wear.

In the most basic “feel” terms a damping grease will make a movement feel heavier but with smoother transitions from stop>start (on a linear rail) where a regular clear silicon grease will have a lighter feel.

This video demonstration can be quite useful.

yes, that is literally all I want for them to move with less wear. what would you recommend I use because I cant really find anything?

A silicon lubricant grease from a hardware store ought to do it. Check that it’s plastics safe (but it ought to be)

The most common brand here in Sweden is CRC Silicon grease. It’s what I used on my T16000’s for years. It’s cheap as chips and if you later want to try a damping grease or whatever then you can simply wipe it off and apply something else.

Not sure what region you are in and I think there is a forum rule against posting links to stores anyway but if you search “plastics safe silicon grease” you ought to find something suitable.
