So I have a new PC with a 3080 Nvidia card.
I am looking at new monitors. What is the general opinion on flat or curved 32 inch monitors?
Thanks for the feedback
never mind
I have an Acer X34 Predator which is a 34" curved ultrawide and i’d highly recommend it, especially for simming. I could never go back to a standard flat widescreen monitor.
I’d recommend curved!
It’s not what you asked but I use a 43 or 50 inch 4k TV.
Cheaper and multi-purpose because I don’t play any other games and can watch TV or Netflix during the hours of downloading (even at 100Mb) that can be expected for this sim for the next year or so.
Can also always use it in another room in the house if I change my rig later or have to wait a week for an update that makes the sim playable again.
I went through the same decision last year. What I did was buy both…use each for a week and then make the decision and return the one I didn’t want.

Curved, though it’s less important on smaller or non ultra wide monitors. I think for 32" I’d still do curved, but I would highly recommend looking into the super ultra wides.
I am running a curved 34 ultra wide. Makes a difference the viewing angle.
For simming the curved is good. For lroduction the curve distorts images so if you Solidworks or something it’s poisen. Also until they optimize the game that 3080 is going to gibe you much.
I second this. Great monitor. Bought mine specifically for this game. I’m glad I did.
Personally after doing some extensive monitor shopping and seeing everything I could, I think on anything smaller than 34" UW, the curve is more of a gimmick. Unless you have your face stuck right up to the monitor, that curve isn’t doing much for your peripheral vision and is more of an annoyance in regular use than a feature when gaming.
In other words, go big, or go home. The bigger the monitor, the better the effect of the curve is.
I use a 43" Sharp 4K TV and it’s great. You can pick up a 43" TV on Amazon for $200. Make sure it’s 4K
I endorse the LG 38” UltraGear™ 21:9 Curved](https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38GL950G-B-gaming-monitor)
Now we have to add in the 4K issue. Those ultra wide screens are not 4K. I don’t k of which is more important.
Curved or flat - mine is curved 32”. I bent to the sales pressure. Not sure it really does add that much. However if you’re chasing price make sure it’s 1440p and NOT 1080. That’s where the difference is and it’s quite substantial.
Smart man
I sit close to a 4k 40" screen.
I’d happily add some extra horizontal resolution but would never swap for a big 21:9 if I lost vertical resolution.
I personally like the 32 inch wide curved monitors. I have a ROG Strix XG32VQ. I don’t think this is something the community can advise, it’s personal taste. I was a bit apprehensive about a curved monitor initially but it’s great - the XG32VQ has subtle curves though which is nice.
Isn’t this academic when VR arrives…
I have one, it is great
I also recoommend a curved, but 34"
I went with the little more affordable AOC CU34G2X 34" and it’s amazing. Normally i have to have the best of everything. But this is an excellent curved monitor for the price.
my two cents.
I am running a curved 35 ultra wide, it is great, i really like it in both games and windows.
